Xbox 360 sales abysmal in Japan? You shoud go check the original Xbox. Xbox 360 is a success in Japan in comparison xD

I think some of it is because MS is an American company but I also think the pay for online hurt them there too. I sometimes wonder how the pay scheme works there because its not the same as in the states. In MMOs for example they buy hours at a time not months of unlimited access. I also wonder how that type of structure will impact the PS4. Only time will tell

Yes and yet the 360 is one of the best selling home consoles in history globally.

Amazing huh?

You could subtract 100% of the Japanese sales from all the home consoles ahead of it and they'd still be among the best selling consoles in history.

I don't think it's for lack of trying, 360 has some good games with Japanese appeal, and seems to be the bastion of Cave shooters. I used to see a lot of Japan/HongKong guys playing TF2 and L4D for some reason too. Looking at the release schedules for xbox and ps4, it doesn't appear that Japan is a major focus at the moment anyway.

It isn't a problem when third parties are bad at maths.

1.5m 360s: Get KH III and FF XV for X1.
12m Wiis: No KH III and FF XV for U.

It's easier to port from PS4/modern PC to X1. If Wii U was getting a version, then 360/PS3 would probably be getting one too.

In a few weeks it will sale as much as PSP go.

As I said before, Microsoft's focus this next generation will be on growing the European market. I will hedge a bet and say that Microsoft may actually open a Japanese game studio to create in-house Japanese-centric games. Then again, they may do that in China instead, since that appears it's likely going to be an emerging market, they can get developers cheaper, and they can offer games with a broader Asian market focus.

Aw, you were too quick with your edit. At least you realized how stupid your initial reply was.

Anyway, if Square-Enix wanted to make Wii U versions, it wouldn't be a problem, because the Wii U is compatible with the latest Direct X features or whatever is used nowadays. The games in question have been long enough in development to safely say that the decisions against Wii U versions were made before the Nintendo console tanked in sales. So it's neither horsepower, system architecture or sales that are the cause for the lack of Wii U support.

I think it's just time to accept the Wii U isn't going to get a lot of support from third parties. The Wii U is also way less powerful than even an X1, it's in reality probably just a little more powerful than a 360/PS3 despite some people being in massive denial about this.

"Scaling" these games down to run on something with 1GB of RAM vs. 5GB of RAM and a 300 TFLOP performance versus 1.2TFLOP/1.8TFLOP would likely require a lot of headaches and compromises.

As for the point of this thread, which is the 360, MS needs to drop the price. There should be an SKU for $129.99 with 16GB of storage or something. It's eight freaking years old, time to get the price under $150 already.

What? It outsells DS every week!
