So if there weren't any fanboys present, why did you start ranting about them?

Yes, I know you're trying to trap me but you're just going to have to solve that mystery yourself.

So people disagree with you, and you flip out and start raving about "Nintendo fanboys".

We're not the "butthurt" ones here.

Speak for yourself. I'm crazily butthurt over here.

Ugh.  And here I thought were were actually having a conversation at this point.  It's like you completely missed every single thing I said.  Holy cats.  You win, dude.  Whatever you say.

Hard to say - Super Mario 64 is what started it all for me

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

Oh, dear lord.  Look, I'm sorry, it was all Mario.  No one cared about any of the other games, right from the start, even before anyone had played a single NES, everyone only cared about Mario.  All the rest of the games combined were complete failures.  There you go.

So mature.

No, just tired of this.  I hate this whole, massive butt-hurt thing with Nintendo fanboys if you say the slightest thing negative about Mario, then you have to deal those rushing to attack, like you with this meaningless post which adds nothing at all to the discussion.  I know I'm not going to win against a whole hord of you because it will never end.  So you want to come in at the tail end to keep the fight going?  And you think that's mature?  Hah.

Understand this, I am not a Nintendo fanboy.  I just note that Super Mario Bros. came along at the right time, and helped to save Nintendo, and give a reason for the NES to be able to make it.  ROB didn't do it, and thus was discontinued.  It is important to understand what is a lynchpin product, where if it wasn't there, things would of turned out very different.  it can be argued also, that with the Gameboy, Pokemon is the same type of product Mario was.  Without Pokemon, the Gameboy, and all future Nintendo handhelds would not of existed.

One can argue also for Pong to being relevant.  Without it, very possibly we never have a videogame indusrty.   And that is a problem of asking, "If Nintendo didn't have Mario, would you be a Nintendo fan?"  One can't separate Nintendo from Mario at all, because without Mario, we very likely wouldn't even have a videogame industry as we have it today.

Who got offended, though? All I see is people disagreeing with your points and you getting worked up.

And you are aware that calling people "fanboys" (which you just admitted you did) is not permitted on this site, aren't you?

Who did I call a fanboy?

I can read your post as calling ME a fanboy, because apparently my saying what I said, caused you to go all in a huff, just like I was a fanboy who was upset at saying anything bad about Mario.

They had Mario and I still went over to Sony back in 95/96 and never looked back lol But to answer the question, I still would love Nintendo solely on the strength of Zelda. I love the series that much.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

I dunno I really liked Metroid, Legend of Zelda, and Tecmo Bowl when I was younger. SMB 3 was my favorite mario game though

I will permaban myself if the game releases in 2014.

in reference to KH3 release date

Hmm, that's a tricky question. If Mario never existed, what about Miyamoto? He would still be with Nintendo, yes? As long as he would still be with the company, I think it is safe to say I would still be a Nintendo fan. The man shaped and molded the company to what it is today. Arguably the reason why Nintendo even has set standards in their game development. It is apparent even down to the eShop titles they release.
