Not really. In aus we have the A-league (which is pretty poor quality). Sydney FC, who are not even our best cub beat LA galaxy in a friendly 5-2, and they have david beckham. i have had a hate to american footbal ("soccer") ever since the american coach said Australia were in the 06 world cup to make up numbers. (funny thing is we made it further)

thanny , quick to forget the '02 cup? when USA was robbed vs Germany or woulda been in final 4. and you cant judge american soccer by our MLS team, gotta look at our national team. our best players dont play in the MLS, they play in Europe. Beckham is only there cause he wanted the undisputed title of biggest sell out!!

The reason we (U.S.) don't dominate soccer (like we do with every other sport) is becuase all of our best atheletes are playing basketball, football americano and baseball.

dgm, All the top Australian players play in the EPL and other major European leagues as well, rather than the A-league. That's where the top soccer/football leagues are. Anyway, just about all our top player's flew down to Australia for our World cup qualifier against Qatar last night. We won 3-0.
