Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Update: Xbox One 12GB RAM upgrade debunked by Microsoft

lol at 24% advantage lol

They used a way strong GPU than the Xbox One to reach these results.

And the guys here uses like it is true.

I did mention it was in theory :P Digital foundry were just testing for the theoretical difference when accounting for nothing but the 50% higher amount of graphical computing power. I assumed, when he said about being 50% stronger, that he had read their findings but not gone on far enough to see that it didn’t result in a 50% performance increase, but rather a 24%.

I did read it early last week, so if I’ve remembered that all wrong I’d appreciate knowing what i've forgotten/missunderstood :)

Rumor gives this a 10% credibility.

70% of 10%...

7% chance this will happen...

OMG FF7 Remake confirmed!

This is the most random post I have seen in a while xD

Nice.

OMG! If this turns out to be true, that means that the One will be 50% better than the PS4!

You remembered the correct number, it's just that that number is incorrect ;)

DigitalFoundry really screwed up that analysis. They used the wrong GPUs to replicate each system and completely ignored other differences in the consoles. Plus even if they did this test correctly, they are still using a flawed technique. In other words, just stick with a very broad term such as "around 50% stronger" or "somewhat better." Any specific X% in power difference for the whole console is the wrong way to even think of it.

Aaah, I wasn't aware of that. I thought their method of going about it was odd, but didn't know it was actually incorrect (my hardware knowledge doesn’t expand far past my own computer :P)

Never too late to make the change IMO. Why wouldn't you want to maximize the minimum set up of your gaem system. It won't help the firs 2 years, but years 3-7/10 it would. Like many others have said, it can't hurt to have more ram. I agree with others that it will help 1st party a few years down the line for sure. Seems funny that so many people can't grasp that this was probably an option for them all along in the design. They probably chose to save some costs and go 8gb when they thought that Sony was only 4gb. Once Sony housed them at the reveals, they have been scrambling ever since to maximize what they can. Either way, it would be nice if its 12, but it does seem less likely to be reality.

Props for using a term from my era of Hip-Hop.

Oh and yeah about the rumor, Pezuz makes a good point and if it's true, we'll find out then.

Once you hit your forties, you can't remember what the current terms are for everything.  I have 3-4 generations of "terms" floating through my head...

Yeah I feel ya on that. Fellow old man here but you got me by a year.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

If this is true, than Microsoft really is running scared. Think about it...everything they've been doing in the past few weeks has been only reactionary. The DRM reversal, indie policies, rumors on final specs...it's fun to watch actually. Great for the XBox One adopters, but tremendously funny for the rest of us.

And this comment is for people who take console wars too seriously .  Not really sure what is funny about a company listening to fans but ok then.

With that said I don't like listening to rumors but a lot of rumors has become true this year that keeps popping up.  Still, I dont think it is possible to change hardware this late in the cycle.....Then again they just bundled the headset as well.  I will admit I dont know much about the manufacturing side of things from a business as most don't here.  I'll take this as a rumor and whatever happens, happens.

Ummm...did anyone click the actual link in the OP? This has been deconfirmed already...

the only thing i can say to that is they also tweeted before about not including the headset so dont know if this would 100% kill the rumor but it does make it seem less likely  then what it was
