Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Call of Duty: Ghosts coming to Wii U, runs same next-gen engine as Xbox One and PS4 version

And now ofcourse this engine is all of a sudden not next Gen the haters will claim lol.

Out of all the ps4/x1 games cod ghosts looks the most like a 360/ps3 game, working on the same engine doesn't make a difference.

yeah. no kidding

You mean the id tech 3? Yea all call of duty games use that engine.

But seriously it's all the same engine, with a few new enhancements for the platforms where it is aplicable.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

To be honest, I am not all that impressed with Ghosts. I think it is likely only a slightly modified current gen engine to get a game out this holiday. Then for the next main entry ("Modern Warfare 4?") they will use their new fully next gen engine.

That way they can still bank on all the current gen consoles with Ghosts and then for the next main entry they will have enough next gen consoles out to just target them.

Great news. I'm glad that Wii U owners will experience the same quality fish and dogs as PS4 / Xbox One owners.

Activision just means the next generation "of their engine". But they've had several generations of their engine within the last 'console generation'. Console generations and engine generations are not 1:1. So this allows their marketing department to say 'next generation' engine regardless of anything to actually do with the consoles themselves.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

The new engine looks like the old one.

This unfortunately proves that the next gen engine will suck balls just like their previous engine, not that I'm really surprised though. Is it new proprietary or based upon some other engine? IW engine, ID tech 4 or 5?

Scalability is bad now?

I thought it was already confirmed that their 'next-gen engine' is just an updated version of the current engine?
