There are people out there bashing them to hell for it but all you have to do is look at dedicated video game handhelds to see what happens when you completely ignore your competition and play it safe by simply doing what you've always done. |
In all fairness, Sony has tried to expand, and they have achieved some success. With Blu-ray 2.0, Blu-ray Live, 3D, apps on the PS3, even putting a blu-ray on the PS3, and a DVD on the PS2, CD on the PS1, eye toy1 and 2. They have achieved some success, ie the Blu-ray.
They just haven't been able to keep up with some of their competitors innovations. It's tough world out there. Who could have predicted the success of the Wii or Kinect?
Microsoft has the money to make a Xbox One gold. Years ahead of everyone else is stretching it. It has my attention though and I'm thinking of buying.

Not always a good thing. The consoles that are considered ahead for there, rarely do successfully. N64, Dreamcast and probably PS3 were all considered ahead of their time. Only the PS3 did really well out of those 3.
