They need a jp studio, to expand. They are really lacking on this department, mistwalker should have been first party, Microsoft helped them after all.

Japanese studios don't usually do gaming business with Western publishers in terms of being merged or acquired by them.
There are no such thing as Ubisoft/EA/Activision/2K Japanese studio. But you'll see SE Crystal Dynamics/Eidos, Capcom Vancouver, Sega (Football Manager studio), Nintendo Retro, etc...
I don't think their business laws are/been friendly to foreign investment. Especially now with Abe.

Microsoft got lots of deals over the years, atm with platinum for example.. Square enix deals (not eidos), capcom (not the western studio), sega (not the western studios)...
Mistawalker exists thanks to MS, cave lived thanks to MS... I could continue.

Good enough for me, it would be interesting if they revived both at near the same time with either Xbox 1 having Halo Wars 2, PC having Age of Empires or both having both, would definitely be rgeat for me since I enjoyed Halo Wars for what it was.
