So they're effectively selling you half a game on the disc at full retail price?

I know 13 people with xbox360s

10 of which were never connected to the internet.

This is going to be hilarious.

Half a game? That's pushing it a bit.

Your statistics are a little off with the general public it seems, a one time internet connection in 2013 isn't difficult, and whoever buys an Xbox One needs it anyway.

Actually not true, because there will be services that third parties will provide to update the console as day one. However, games are still ip tied, since it was never announced as removed, so you have to download from your house.

IP tied??? that's not possible a lot of people have non static IPs from their ISPs.... I'm personnaly using VPN services and get random IPs all the time.... they might be account tied but certainly not IP tied....

So, a 1 time internet connection when I buy the system, and another 1 time internet connection when I play the game....

....

.......

Soon it's going to be a one time internet connection every time I turn the box on.

Oh well, I just hope One has an ethernet cable input, so I can unplug it the 99% of the time I do play it.

No it will be like the current 360 (slim, super slim) if you have wifi it will connect to your internet automatically every time you turn it on.

this gen we had day one patchs, next gen we have to download a portion of the fucking game day 1 if we want to play it? They ended the every 24 hours check in and now they do this.

oh microsoft ...

I'm assuming it's only launch games and launch window games. Hopefully : (.....

I don't see what the big deal is. Is there anyone in this thread which would be affected?

Getting free content day one is still miles better then having to pay for DLC that is already on the disc.

Seems like even with the DRM policy reversal, the One is still realizing my worst fears in gaming and making them so..... I'll have to turn off my wifi when I play, and unplug my system when I don't....what a hastle next gen will be.

What is with all the hate? Don't read GamrReview Articles. Contact me to ADD games to the Database
Vote for the March Most Wanted / February Results

I don't think the PS4 will be any different it has build in wifi so I'm sure it will conect automactically every time you turn it on also.

Ah you're right, I forgot about that stuff.

Well, it was something that MS had said, but I think I had it wrong. The original quote was more along the lines of "ip range":

"Responding to Twitter user Gregor Ivezic's (@gi4ouR) question "Xbox One will block activation of games if outside of the IP range of a supported country? What if i travel a lot?", the @XboxSupport2 account replied "You'll be able to play when you return home. I travel with an Xbox 360 for road gaming.""

""While the console itself is not geographically restricted, a user’s Xbox Live account, content, apps and experiences are all tied to the country of billing and residence.""

The word residence is the part that makes the implication, unless they meant "country of residence"

LOL @ "extensive use of cloud" for save files
