Entire libraries should be compared, but its the real, true exclusive titles like StarCraft 2, Super Mario Galaxy, Halo 3 and Gran Turismo 5 that define said platforms. Its the exclusives that differentiate your platform from other platforms. If your "exclusives" are on another platform, theyre meaningless in a discussion about exclusive titles. |
Then thats the root problem, we should stop comparing "exclusives" and just compare games on one and not the other to truly see differentiating offerings. But this will obviously disrupt the power position the PS fans hold and therefore will continue to hold true on their stance
I so close to pulling my hair out! I'm not saying anything is exclusive!! I AM NOT SAYING ANYTHING IS EXCLUSIVE! I'm just saying compare library to library! Before I reply to one guy, another has already replied about having an exclusive game on PC! Stop it!
I'm sorry, Jim. I've failed you. Bob has won again.
attaboy said: Let's say two people walk into Gamestop. One is named Jim and the other is named Bob. Jim wants to buy a game console. "Woah!" Jim says. "The Xbox 360 has the Witcher 2! I heard that was a great game!" "No. It doesn't count.", says Bob. "Doesn't count? Well, why the hell not? I mean, it's right here! It's evenon sale for $20!", Jim replies "Sorry buddy. It doesn't count. It's also available on the PC. It doesn't count.", explains Bob. "You should get a PS3. It has more exclusives, anyway." Jim raises an eybrow. "Well, I guess you're right. You're the one who's always on the internet. You know a lot about these things." Jim looks a little further. "Dead Rising? It's kinda old but I've heard good things about that one, too!" "Have you been sniffing glue!? That game got ported to the Wii back in like 2009! You can't base your decision on games that are ports! You have to base it on exclusives! Those are the games that tell which console is special and unique!" Say Bob, as he pays another $5 on his Final Fantasy Versus XIII pre-order. "Well yeah, I have a Wii somewhere. I heard it wasn't a very good port, though. Missing a lot of features....", Jim defends. "Nope. Still doesn't count. You can play it somewhere else besides the Xbox 360. Sorry, bro. I don't make the rules." says Bob. "Well fuck. What am I waiting for! I'm buying that PS3!!" Says Jim Later on that night, Jim sits alone in his home. He has waited for the PSN update for Twisted Metal to finally complete so he can play online. He realizes that, while the PS3 has a ton of great exclusives like The Last of Us and Us and Flower (which didn't count because it was available on PSN and isn't a hardcore game), there were some games that ARE available on Xbox 360 and PC that werent available in any form on the PS3. After waiting for an hour to finally get online in Twisted Metal, Jim hangs himself with a bedsheet. His last words were "Fuck you, Bob..." The previous text was based on a true story. See, the thing is, having a game available on Xbox 360 AND PC doesn't make the game or the Xbox or PC less special because it's "multi-plat". If anything, it makes the PS3 LESS desireable because it's the one format that doesn't have that title! It's like buying a car based on its special features like 90 miles per gallon and totally ignoring the fact that it doesn't have air-conditioning because air-conditioning is not exclusive. That's kind of a big deal. Do you think that the person who is interested in buying a PS3 or a 360 gives a darn that Fable III got ported to the PC? He just wants to play the game! One console has it. The other console doesn't. Simple, right? That's why I propose we compare consoles like This: One console's ENTIRE library vs. another console's ENTIRE library. I know it sounds crazy and it scares people but it just might work. Had Jim considered this, he might still be alive today. Don't say a game doesn't count because "It's casual", "it's download only", "it's multi-plat", "it's from a milked franchise", "it has a girl on the cover", or any other crazy reason we come up with to say a game doesn't count as a game. Who knows? It just might save a life. |
I know!! I was so angry when TLG and FFversus were no longer on ps3. I didn't kill myself obviously but I wish I wouldn't have been waiting so long
for those damn games!! I feel i've been cheated by Sony and SE
it seems certain people want to leave out PC as a platform and lets be real here it is a platform to make the 360 look better. That is NOT how it works in the real world. multiplat=game released on mulitiple formats. 360/PC multiple formats
The reason it matters is that several million people have computers easily capable of playing those 360/PC games on their PC at the same standard as the 360 version. So when they want to buy a home console they become much more likely to buy a PS3 over the 360, since it has a larger library currently unavailable to them.
It's 2013, not the 90's P: There are huge numbers of people with gaming capable PC's.

So really, thats an admission that PS can't stand up by itself against Xbox? Because in a strict PS vs Xbox debate, neglecting these types of games seems silly. Bringing in a PC to fight PS battles.....thats what these types of replies sound like. The 360 sales of Left 4 Dead and especially Minecraft shows that there is a big market for console only gamers. These titles clearly matter. |
Or it could be that one group acknowledges that PC is a gaming platform just like PS3 and 360 while the other group acts like it isn't.

That is why there are separate terms for those cases: "exclusives" and "console exclusives".
Also, as opposed to looking at specific games, I think it would be better to look at first party developers. Most 3rd party developers will port their games to all of the consoles eventually.
So if you want Halo, Fable or Forza, get yourself an Xbox. If you want Uncharted, God of War or Gran Turismo, get yourself a PlayStation. If you want both, get both.
If you only want Call of Duty, get the console most of your friends have so you can play with them...
sales2099 said: 360 is just fine.....more 70-79, 80-89, 90+ meta games then PS3. Thats a fact. 360 can stand up by itself. You basically showed me that PS needs a PC to be competitive, even with its own exclusives. |
PS3 have more exclusives even without PC... you have more choices with PS3 because you can play all exclusives more most of 360 "exclusives" (because they are multiplat).
About Meta remeber que that games with only 360 reviews didn't have entries in PS3 part... remove than (because they are in both plataforms) and you will have a big surprise lol.

on a PC......PS3 alone can't do what 360 can do...so you "go get some help". :P |
That's like saying the 360 couldn't keep up with PS3 so it went to the PC to "go get some help".
