Forums - Microsoft Discussion - About Julie Larson-Green being Dan Mattrick's Replacement

Can Julie Larson-Green turn around the company?

Yes 23 45.10%

No 28 54.90%

Total:51

I like her. I'd be surprised if she were the "face" of the console like Mattrick was though. Only because with the restructuring she has so much more under her than just XBOX, unlike Mattrick did. I expect Yuself and the Phil's to do the talking at conferences and steer a lot of the XBOX ship.

She has been with the company for a long time so she knows how MS works, and that is of course good.

As for dropping Kinect, never gonna happen. Too much invested in that device at this point

Seems like it was built on a system architecture level to use the Kinect as well. I don't see them dropping this because they consider it a heavy part of their machine.

We'll see. She was in charge of Windows 8 and that didn't turn out very well to the public. I personally like Windows 8, but then again i'm only one person. She needs to prove herself before I could give any accurate opinion.

I don't like the fact that the Xbox division is being broken down into two divisions. Separate leaders requires constant communication, and sometimes egos flare. Should be an interesting next few years.

Windows 8 is great, just not on desktops, that was a mistake. Anyway she headed 8.1 rather than just contributed like 8, and that's heading in the right direction.

I don't know what's with the Kinect paranoia. It looks like an excellent device and it will receive tons of support.
I don't see it deterring game experience at all.

It's not just paranoia. With me for example, I have seen more than enough Kinect in the last 2-3 years to know I have no interest in the device and outside of some dance a fitness games I see no true need for the device to be forced with a console purchase.

Many of us see it as a $100+ roadblock keeping us from getting a XBone.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Mattrick is now the CEO of Zynga.

Kinect isn't costing MS anywhere near $100 though, it's just assumed that's what's driving the price up that much.

I believe in the capabilites of Kinect 2.0. I played some dance games with Kinect 1 and it seemed fine and made me enjoy the game.

You see no true need for the device but MS is heavily investing in a more matured hardware that I want to see how it folds.

I believe it's an excellent investment by MS and $100 is not a factor. People buy crappy games all the time and do all kind of stupid stuff with $100.

People bought Vita for $250, I can't fathom that even in my nightmares.
