Forums - Movies & TV - 'The Lone Ranger', Why the hate??

I hear it's not faithful to the old radio show/TV show it was based on and even if it was, nobody knows anything about the Lone Ranger anymore. It's just an old historical franchise that is lost on audiences of today. Characters like Batman, Zorro, etc are timeless because they evolved over the years. The Lone Ranger isn't such a franchise, I guess. With that said, I kinda want to see it. Any movie that has Johnny Depp in pale makeup is good enough for me.

You thought it was better than Fast Six? Lol what.

Fast 6 was a huge letdown for me.

Watched all Fast movies, and Fast 6 was the second worst for me.

However, I am getting excited for Fast 7 next year - Statham kicks ass and I think he will be a great bad guy.

Which one is your favorite?

Only seen the first two Fast and Furious movies but from what I have heard six is one of the best ones with the 5th one being the best one.

I saw an article calling it the worst movie of the year 'as according to critics'. Is it that hard for journalists to do some research and find that there are up to 4 movies in 2013 that were even more critically panned than The Lone Ranger?

It certainly wasn't a great movie, but from the complaints I've seen about the movie, a lot of the complaints stem from the racism being juxtaposed with slapstick humour.

It's a fairly decent film. But I'm sort of glad I only payed 7.50 for it.
Good fun, but nothing groundbreaking.

The first one is my favorite.

ff5 was really fun.

Tokyo drift was the worst.

thinking ff7 will become my second favorite (hopefully).  Statham

I enjoyed The Lone Ranger more.

It could be because I was expecting more from ff6 - the very beginning scene (CGI car race) threw me off.

Also, I wasn't expecting much from the Long Ranger.

i want to see it, but only at the dollar show. will not be another one.

Where I live, the Regal theaters have $6 movies every Tuesday.  I usually watch all my movies on Tuesdays.

I agree with you. I'm surprised at the reviews, which seem really low to me.

I wouldn't give The Lone Ranger a passing grade, but it definitely doesn't deserve all this negative press.

Sure it was overlong and it tried to cram a lot of different ideas and set pieces into a pretty simple story, but I would much rather a movie try too much and fail than play it safe and fail. Say what you will about The Lone Ranger, at least it was ambitious.

well im gonna watch it when it comes out here, can't be worst than superman.
