Forums - Gaming Discussion - Non-English speaking gamers, in what language do you play games?

I play in french if i have the choice, english otherwise, but alway voice in jap if can ^^

There is hardly any game in with Swedish subtitles or voice acting, except those educational games.
So for that reason I choose English, because that is what I know the most of. I could also choose Spanish, which I have done a few times, but that almost never happens.

Even if most games were in Swedish, I would not choose it because as The1 said, Swedish does sound too serious. I can't imagine playing a game like Ace Attorney or Pokémon in Swedish. Although it does sound quite funny in the anime.

I'm Spanish, but that mostly differs from how well the voice acting is. I remember playing the first Metal Gear Solid, and I was impressed on how talented the dub actors where. (Alfonso Vallés FTW).

That being said, whenever I can, I put them in English. It has been a nice way to learn the language and to enjoy a good voice acting. However, there has been exceptions. Metro 2033 and Last Light; I played them in Russian. Alone in The Dark (the newest one) I played it in Spanish, but mainly because the other language's voice acting sucked hard. (Spanish was pretty good!).

And if it's an JRPG, Japanese. However, I couldn't with Resonance of Fate, mainly because the voice acting suuuuckeeeeed sooooo baaaaad. English was pretty solid. And that's strange, considering in most JRPGs, the English version tend to be devoid of any emotion.

My native language is also Spanish.

I always play in English, or Japanese (with English subs) for games like VC or NNK.

The Spanish voice overs are generally good though, but especially if the characters are meant to be American/English, etc. hearing them speak Spanish is a bit silly.

For movies it's a big no-no in all instances. Always OV.

Also, why are Nolan North and/or Troy Baker in every game?

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Japanese games in japanese if possible.
German games (minus Crytek games - those are clearly made for the US market anyway) in german.
All other games in english.

99 % of the time in german.

My native language is Bangla but I play games in English. I play some Japane games like, naruto, yakuza in Japanese language with subtitles. Japanese games sounds funny in English.

I always prefer to read/hear things in its original form, aslong as i can understand it.

I play all my games in english. If they were in my native language they just sound silly and i cant take it seriously.

Is anyone here fluent in Japanese?

My native language is spanish as well, and I play all my games in english; because the voice acting is a lot better (considering most games I play now are western made). I would play Japanese games in japanese if I understood japanese.
