Forums - Sony Discussion - Big PSN Summer sale

Why do they need to compete with Steam? Steam doesn't offer PS3 games.

I see your point, but the Steam summer and holiday sales have been very profitable, that's why they keep having them. They wouldn't keep having the sales if the developers weren't making money. I suppose in a sense they are competing for attention.

Let's say a person has both a PS3, and a PC. This person has let's say 50 dollars total to spend on the Steam and PSN summer sales. The game providers (Steam and PSN) compete for this person's money by offering deals to temp the gamer. The people at Steam want this guy to spend all his money on PC games. The people at Sony want him to spend all his money on PS3 games.

The gamer wants good deals on PC games, but he also wants good deals on PS3 games. It's up to him what games he buys, how he divides his money among the game providers. It's up to the game providers to try and get as much of that money as possible for themselves.

Well, games would be made available on PS+ if developers weren't making money out of it. But I don't really see your point - the PSN sales wouldn't have been happening if they weren't making money out of this. But on the other hand, you could say that the Steam sales are happening because sales are low for those games on pc.

Meh im better off renewing my ps+ then buying one of these games.

I'm getting MK Vita. 5 bucks, easy decision.

Also, next week might pick Alice for just 4, and Lego DC Vita for 5.

??? I just checked the ps store and they don't offer a one month subscription to ps+, I thought I read somewhere they they allow 1 month subs.

The membership options are 12 month or 3 month. Sometimes they throw around 1 month trials, but those are free.

This sale isn't that great. I might pick up Just Cause 2. I've always wanted to play it. Then again, I probably won't. Microsoft's sale is much better, although I would rather buy for my PS3.

If I renew my plus, I'll be picking up SoTC, R and C collection and walking dead dlc.
