AMD will, most likely, not address the DX9 crashing issues introduced by the Adrenalin driver
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/amd-will-most-likely-not-address-the-dx9-crashing-issues-introduced-by-the-adrenalin-driver/
Back in December, AMD released a brand new driver for its graphics cards, the AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition. This new driver brought some new functionalities such as a new Overlay feature (default ALT+R) allowing management of certain Radeon Settings features while in-game or on desktop such as Radeon ReLive, Radeon FreeSync, Radeon Chill, Frame Rate Target Control, Display Color, and Performance Monitoring. However, it appears that this driver also broke compatibility with some older DX9 titles.
When some users brought this information to AMD, one of the red team’s technical support engineers claimed that the company will, most likely, not address these issues.

>>Bad move from AMD. If they break something, they should fix it, period.

The news, part two:

Destiny 2 has the same glimmer farming cap as the first game
http://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-has-the-same-glimmer-farming-cap-as-the-first-game/
A report of a hidden "glimmer cap" in Destiny 2 that recently surfaced on Reddit isn't exactly news, because it's not actually new: It's a carryover from the original game that was implemented to limit the impact of farming. But since the first Destiny wasn't released for the PC, its existence is bound to be news to some of us. So consider this a friendly PSA that if you're looking to get rich quick by wiping out hordes of bad guys, it might not go quite as quickly as you expect.

A random online player is your mother in Jason Rohrer's One Hour One Life
http://www.pcgamer.com/in-jason-rohrers-one-hour-one-life-you-spawn-as-a-baby-and-another-player-is-your-mother/
Jason Rorher, developer of excellent MMO The Castle Doctrine , has just released a trailer for his next game, and the premise is intriguing. It's a collaborative online game in which players band together to create a new civilisation from scratch from a growing list of 10,000 craftable objects. The twist to One Hour One Life is that you spawn as a baby, and a randomly selected player is your mother.

Watch five minutes of Fe, a good-looking platformer where you connect to nature by singing
http://www.pcgamer.com/watch-five-minutes-of-fe-a-good-looking-platformer-where-you-connect-to-nature-by-singing/
Tyler caught a fleeting glimpse of nature-loving Fe last year, when developer Zoink became the first company to join EA's indie support arm, EA Originals. Back then we knew little about it other than it looked beautiful, but now we know a little more. In a five-minute video with IGN (above), creative director Hugo Bills talks through the mechanics, including the way you sing to gain the trust of other creatures.

Last Man Sitting is a daft physics game about firing rocket launchers from your office chair
http://www.pcgamer.com/last-man-sitting-is-a-daft-physics-game-about-firing-rocket-launchers-from-your-office-chair/
Last Man Sitting blew up on Reddit last month with a gif showing men in office chairs firing shotguns and ragdolling across the room. Now the game has a full trailer, above, and a playable version is due to come out next month. The mix of serious men in suits (they remind me of Agent 47), green office chairs and explosions looks completely daft, and I reckon it'll be fun to play.

Orwell: Ignorance is Strength will have fewer, more complex episodes than the original
http://www.pcgamer.com/orwell-ignorance-is-strength-will-have-fewer-more-complex-episodes-than-the-original/
Orwell: Ignorance is Strength, the second season of the surveillance-themed adventure, is going to feel quite different to the original, if a new blog post from the developers is anything to go by. Season one (which was pretty good), contained five episodes—the new season will only have three, but they will be more "complex" and hand the player more control over the game's story.

Shadowverse: Chronogenesis expansion out now, adds 138 cards to the CCG
http://www.pcgamer.com/shadowverse-chronogenesis-expansion-out-now-adds-138-cards-to-the-ccg/
Shadowverse is a great alternative to Hearthstone. Fans of Blizzard's mammoth CCG will find its mechanics familiar, but it's set apart by its distinct Japanese flavour and a neat 'Evolve' mechanic, which lets you buff and transform any of your minions. It's free-to-play and receives a constant stream of updates, the latest of which, Chronogenesis, came out this week.

Dead Cells getting an Early Access price bump in January, devs are 'far from finishing the game'
http://www.pcgamer.com/dead-cells-getting-an-early-access-price-bump-in-january-devs-far-from-finishing-the-game/
When an update video for Dead Cells—the slick Early Access Metroidvania—popped up on Steam, I was hoping that we'd get a release date. But alas, no such luck. The Motion Twin team said they are still "far from finishing the game", which has been up on Steam since May. They also revealed that the game is getting a price bump after the Winter Sale to reflect the significant process they've made in development: it will rise from $16.99/£13.99 to $19.99 (probably around £16).

Bleak government spying sim Beholder has a sequel out next year
http://www.pcgamer.com/bleak-government-spying-sim-beholder-has-a-sequel-out-next-year/
After Andy played Beholder last year he described it as a cross between Papers, Please and gloomy East Berlin police drama The Lives of Others, which sounds about as bleak as a game could get. You were a landlord employed by the government to spy on your neighbors, forced to grass them up (and watch them get taken away in the back of a van) or else risk your job, and your family's lives. You can expect more moral dilemmas like that from Beholder 2, which developer Warm Lamp Games has announced with a teaser trailer.

>>That "next year" is this 2018.

Platinum Games working on two self-published games (and you can bet they'll end up on PC)
http://www.pcgamer.com/platinum-games-working-on-two-self-published-games-and-you-can-bet-theyll-end-up-on-pc/
Bayonetta and Vanquish developer Platinum Games is working on two self-published games—its first stab at going it alone. Head of development Atsushi Inaba told GameInformer that in 2017 the company encouraged game pitches from all its staff, which has yielded "two designs that we’re genuinely focused on". Given the quality of its previous games, and the fact that it told PC Gamer in April that it would like all its games to release on PC, that's something to be excited about.

Need for Speed Payback to add online free roam
http://www.pcgamer.com/need-for-speed-payback-to-add-online-free-roam/
Need for Speed Payback fans have had their calls for an online free roam mode (belatedly) answered: it will be added to the game in 2018. Currently, the only time you can roam around with friends is when you're waiting for a lobby to fill up, but in the new mode you'll be able to muck around in the streets of Fortune Valley with friends or randoms without having to jump into a race.

Devil May Cry and Dragon's Dogma director says new game is 'under climax'
http://www.pcgamer.com/devil-may-cry-and-dragons-dogma-director-says-new-game-is-under-climax/
At the beginning of last year, esteemed game designer Hideaki Itsuno—who is best known for directing the likes Dragon's Dogma and Devil May Cry 2, 3 and 4—announced plans to "exert [himself] in order to announce a new game" at some stage in 2017. This didn't happen, however it seems the creator's next project is nevertheless well underway.
That's according to the man himself, who took to Twitter to update those interested in his as yet unannounced game.

Fortnite Battle Royale reveals limited-time 'Sneaky Silencer' mode with new weapon
http://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-battle-royale-reveals-limited-time-sneaky-silencers-mode-with-new-weapon/
Fortnite's free 100-player battle royale mode welcomes its first update of the year today, bringing with it a new weapon and a stealth-driven limited-time mode.

Sumo Digital acquires EVE studio's Newcastle branch
http://www.pcgamer.com/sumo-digital-acquires-eve-studios-newcastle-branch/
EVE Online developer CCP Games has sold its Newcastle studio to Sumo Digital for an undisclosed fee.
The acquisition sees 34 staff members making the switch, with former executive producer Owen O'Brien assuming the role of studio director at the new outfit. Sumo's portfolio boasts the likes of Forza Horizon 3, Hitman's Colorado episode, and the incoming Crackdown 3—and it's now approaching two years in charge of the elusive zombie horror game Dead Island 2.

If you want to get a glimpse of some of the games we'll get (no delay withstanding) this 2018, PCGamer has made an article about them: http://www.pcgamer.com/new-games-2018/

For example: did you know that besides Jurassic World there are another two, very different dinosaurs themed park sims, in development? They're Prehistoric Kingdom and Parkasaurus (both listed under the Sims section.

Yeah, CRPGs are niche, always been (thankfully), so I'd never expect it to actually win - but not to be even nominated says a lot about this site and people writing for it.

And honestly, for me at least, mainsteam appeal is usually a bad thing, since, more often than not, it means cattering to lowest common denominator.

Then you should also never expect a niche game that does not appeal to main stream sensibilities be nominated for GOTY. It's called "Game of the Year" and not "Just a Game from this Year". It needs to have some kind of impact and Divinity didn't have any. It can't have any impact if only a tiny fraction of people have even heard of it, so why should it be nominated for an award when nobody actually cared?

What I'm saying is that quality is by all means only a secondary attribute with any award. Be it the Oscars, Pulitzer or even Nobel. What counts first is impact and popularity. Then, if it's a tie between things it comes down to quality. That's how awards work and how they should work. That's why there are extra awards for specific niches to recognize lesser known entities.

Not sure what kind of impact you're talking about...for example, what's the impact of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on industry and public? Exclusive game that will sell less than Divinity, yet it's on the list due to bias toward consoles on this site.

Divinity stands currently at over 1.1M sold, it's considered by many as one of the best classic CRPGs ever made...going by your reasoning Fallout 1/2, Planescape Torment or Gothic wouldn't be nominated in their respective years if it was up to this site.

Honestly, I don't think Divinity missing from that list has anything to do with it being in niche sub-genre, but more with general lack of knowledge about PC games on this site - if it's not on consoles, it's ignored, unless it's something  that is too big to be ignored, like PUBG.

I think even when PuB was out, it wasn't ignored because people cited it was being worthless trash, just like some on here regard Star Citizen as the scummiest dirtiest scam game in the history of crowdfunding, despite the level of progress being made. That game can come out polished as hell and it'll get ignored and spat on because it's not touching PS4 or X1.

PuB is only really getting attention on here due to X1's performance with it, while the rest go on about Fortnite, mainly because it's on their platforms. I think it rings very true, that if it isn't on a console, it's definitely getting ignored. When it touches a console, then it'll be the talk of the town.

I wonder if they will even pay attention to when Iron Harvest releases, since that's coming to consoles and shows off an RTS with destruction physics.

I have kept my Physical PC collection just to Blizzards titles so far.

Yeah. This forum is full of double standards.
Many hardcore <insert console platform here> supporters just completely ignore the PC in any and all comparisons, believing they aren't competitors.

However, if you don't call them up on it, nothing will change.

That's the thing that really irks me though. When PC gets something good going, "it doesn't matter", but when it comes to consoles it's "PC loses an exclusive" or "was crappy anyway". It's like, in that line of thinking, PC would never win in the minds of those people and it honestly just makes me question as to why they'd ever talk about the platform in the first place.

Like now for instance. People didn't care about Dauntless coming about, but when MH world shows up, it's the biggest thing since sliced bread. I'm more impressed that the devs behind Dauntless want to make their own MH styled game for PC, while Capcom doesn't seem concerned at all for however the PC port is going to end up on PC (going by the huge lack of a PC beta, which is very much needed, or they must have the best port devs on the planet).
