Forums - Gaming Discussion - Did MSFT "killed" Sony like they said they would

And Sony almost killed them at E3 lol

At the point that MS started to change everything about Xbone.

Around the Network

in content they did a better job (lets be honest, they really need to), but they were toooooo slooooowwww to react to the internet buzz about DRM and sony didn't have to make almost any effort to do a overall better job at getting people excited for PS4.
from this slow move, they were "forced" to show almost all the games they had and now the xb one momentum will slowly decrease from a not so high place while sony still has lots of unannounced games for gamescon and TGS and can increase even more the high momentum they have. MS has a worse strategic plan for the console launch IMO.
did not kill sony, worse, it wounded themselves.

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

Didn't Microsoft say their goal was to take Sony out of the business eventually?

They didn't do that but honestly the XB360 was very successful at damaging the PS brand a bit.

Sony killed them at e3 that's for sure. When did Microsoft say they were going to kill Sony?

In my opinion, they "killed" them in term of games; but they later got crushed by Sony with their tutorial video and hardware specs/no-DRM. So no, they didn't kill them.

For people claiming bullshit - I read that MS never said "kill" and it was a translation error so it is bullshit to call bullshit now but whatever... ;)

Translation error? lol.. it is not.

"Xbox One va a sorprender al mundo durante el E3. Vamos a matar a Sony en el E3"

Matar = kill... there is no other translation.

A load of BS like most of us knew it would be.

Sony didn't even reveal much of their software. There were also only a few cool Xbox One exclusives. Definitely not enough to "kill" anyone.

A load of BS... It was game after game after game after game. Most of you are Sony fans, right?

Certainly not enough to kill anything but it certainly wasn't BS.

It wasn't more impressive than any other e3 montage I've seen in my years. And I've seen many. Titanfall will go to PS4 eventually. Forza was expected. That leaves less than 5 noteworthy games. And of those, only 2 (Ryse and QB) are envy-inducing.

"...game after game after game after game." is a major hyporbole imho.

You want to see MS killing it, look at the first few e3's for the original Xbox. That was impressive. This, not really so much. And you can call me whatever you want - I've owned every MS console there was. The first one was the best: All those Sega games, KOTR, PGR, Halo (when it was still awe-inspiring and fresh), Elder Scrolls... Was just incredible. This is just ok in my book. Good enough, but not spectacular.

If you can't accept that opinion as legitimate, then there's nothing further to discuss. They needed another 3 or 4 high profile games (how about a friggin RPG eh?) in my book to have raised eyebrows.

No, it was above average. That's all.

Why are you disregarding multiplats? They made up 80% of the 360 and PS3 software sales and the trend is likely to continue. If you discredit multiplats so easily, FFXV and KH3 were arguably the 2 biggest games in the Sony line up for E3 and Nintendo would have just steam-rolled everyone.

OH DUDE COME ON PLEASE.

You can't kill anyone with multiplats and that's CLEARLY the topic here isn't it.

They almost committed suicide at E3 they had the games but goddamn those DRM bullshit and the bad and confusing PR would have killed any company with less resources. They are lucky they get to sell their OS at a good price margin.

Sony fanboys can be annoying little pricks alright but in all honesty, it's because of people like you I stopped visiting this forum. Presumptuous MS brown nosers.

No, the people laughing their asses off at MS and their DOA console are not Sony fans, we are gaming fans. We put the games themselves above some pointless blind loyatly to a shit little company. Enjoy them MS stocks.

I'm done with you people and the high horse you ride on.

did they really say it or is this still about the one article of some spanish or portuguese site translating it like that? people often don't even trust "real" journalists but if i would believe everything the gaming media writes, i would be in trouble^^
