Forums - Sales Discussion - Miyamoto: PS4/Xbox One "easily $100 more if they came with Gamepad"

So WiiU might have been competitive without the gamepad (which gets less and less use) and developers should create unique games rather than ones that look and feel the same.

Looks like people in Kyoto could listen to M. Miyamoto a tad more often.

The Wii U is basically a Wii2, imagine if Nintendo made a system that's the most powerful in the 8th gen, just like the GCN was in the 6th gen, a GCN2, that would have been spectacular.

Would've had a controller like this:

it looks so epic

I agree, GC was more powerful than PS2 even being cheaper:

The problem with GC is its controller: its shape was horrible for shooters(I had many problem playing metroid prime) and the lack of 3rd party games compared to PS2. Third party support was what made me prefer PS1/PS2 to N64/GC.

I totally agree with Miyamoto. If games all play the same then we would all grow out of them.

eg - For FPS the competition would be all about CoD and Halo and new games just wouldnt be able to compete.

The WiiU tablet has a camera built in.

That's a wierd thing to say considering it has the same layout as the 360 controller which a lot of people consider the ideal controller for shooters.

360 controller has a better shape, it is much more confortable to hold. The shape of the 4 buttons of the right side are better, while the CG buttons are crazy, one button bigget than other... and the 2 analogic controls are better "calibrated" and smoother to play shooters.

Unfortunatey the shape and position of the analogic cotrols in WiiU pro controler are even worse than GC's, why the hell they put analogit on the top?

Well, I can't believe the cheap technology inside the gamepad should be expensive to produce.
Except the 10 year old low res resistive screen, it is nothing special. How much such a screen is worth? max 10$?

So the gamepad should be worth 10$ more than a dualshock 3. but a DS4 has also a touch screen even without a screen.

Don't forget nintendo sells their 3ds 167$. Which has a stereoscopic screen (plus a resistive on) a CPU, a GPU some not so cheap FCRAM etc. And Nintendo dares to sale its gamepad 150$ separately?

I stand to my argument that the gamepad is approx the same price of a DS4 (maybe a few $ more). And this 100$ reasoning is PR bs.

People who put down the gamepad obviously haven't experienced Miiverse. Miiverse wouldn't be so magical if there wasn't a screen you could draw on. There are so many awesome drawings on Miiverse even with the limited abilities. So those who put down the gamepad so much obviously haven't used or experienced what you can do with it.

So basically, we might have gotten a WiiU for $199 without a gamepad?

I'm starting to think the pad wasn't worth it.

Well, it wasn't. But either way there would've been complaining. So, you get what you get.

But seriously... if it was 200$... wow...
