Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One may not be able to be sold used

Even more bad news for the Xbox One. Microsoft isn’t commenting on whether the system can be sold used right now. This is an odd thing because if it was able to be sold into the second hand market then they would come out and say it.

Xbox Support responded to a fan tweet about reselling an Xbox One like this:

Wow. Things keep getting worse for this console. Hopefully Microsoft stops this discussion and confirms that the console can be re-sold to different people. I’m not sure why a major retailer like GameStop would even stock this console if it makes so many hoops for gamers looking for second hand content to jump through.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

You're complaining about that name on a website called VGChartZ!?

Just ignore any @XboxSupport posts. If the MS execs can't communicate a clear strategy there is no hope for tier 1 customer support being informed.

We also dont know if we can resell or PS4 nobody said anything about that... :(

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Why wouldn't you be able to resell it?

An Xbox One collecting dust doesn't benefit MS. They want people using them and buying games.

I do not see why we will not be able to do so. Is anyone think it can serve any purpose?

It is more likely that the customer support does not have this information, and they can not provide information they do not get officially. Even if they are 99.99% sure of the right answer.

To force people to buy a new Xbox One at full price instead of buying used?

It may not be impossible, it's also not illogical, given Microsoft's policy on used games lately.

More importantly though, has there ever been any other device that has been able to do something like this?
