Forums - Nintendo - Why is there no Wii Sports U?

The original game sold so well. Sports Resorts did, too.

Why is there no Wii Sports U? Are the sports game now in Wii Party U and Wii Fit U?

Why are you even asking for one?

Cause they not trying to eat right now. I'm sure there's one in development though.

Man, the names of these games...

Wii Sports was a novel party game. I believe the third sequel will have more polish and online which make it even more interesting if it's ever made.

EDIT:

And it could have prevented Nintendo EAD from making Mario 3D world and focus on Galaxy 3 to be made.

Although if Mario 3D world has online co-op I would be very happy.

Nintendo land was suppose to replace it I guess

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Wouldn't show off their tablety gimmick.

Nintendo believe Wii Sports sold because of the flavour of the week control scheme. They think Wii Party U is the best vehicle to make consumers adopt the tablet this time.

This could be a game Nintendo is saving for when the Wii U hits the $249 price point. It's a better mass-market price for consumers, and it's the price that people were willing to spend on the Wii with Sports as its flagship title. However, the danger in waiting too long to release the game is that it might be irrelevant by the time it actually comes out.

They probably want to spread out the Wii_ series out a bit, Party/Fit are coming this holiday and im sure we will see Sprts/Play sometime next year.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Because it appears to be the next Super Mario Bros. Extremely high selling, universally regarded series (yes, everyone loved Wii Sports besides the "serious gamers" and people constantly ask me if there's a Wii Sports U on the way) that was neglected by Nintendo due to their unwillingness to develop another one.

Seriously, a Wii Sports U with online multiplayer and *some* gamepad support would sell extremely well. But I guess they just couldn't force the gamepad into every single game so they probably scrapped it (remember, we even saw a demo at e3 2012 (or 2011, can't remember). I haven't lost all hope yet, personally. Wii Fit, Mario Kart, Art Academy and Wii Sports in 2014 would be a massive push towards the mass market for the Wii U (if the gamepad didn't exist... oh well.)
