Straight from the mouth of Scott Rohde, software product development head for Sony Worldwide Studios America:

We've already come right out and said we're not going to allow online pass. And the word "allow" is key there. Specifically with online, with PS+ requiring a charge to play online, we would not want any publisher [to charge.]

In general, we're all businesses. Sony or Microsoft is never going to be able to tell EA or Activision exactly what they can do. What we like to say at PlayStation is that we set the precedent. The way we are approaching this is that we want this to be extremely consumer-friendly, extremely retailer-friendly, and extremely publisher-friendly. My personal opinion is that it's hard for me to believe that any major publisher is going to put an extra set of used DRM onto game titles because that wouldn't put them in a good spot, right?

I don't think EA thinks the same way...

The PS4 is definitely consumer friendly, some publishers aren't.

So same as ps3 era then, cool.

So they re-re-re-re-reconfirmed?

You think people will believe them yet?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

With some publishers that might do "offline passes". Technically speaking is the same as PS3, but much more strict.

Now we only need to know what companies are going to do it, this gen we'll truly see who are the "bad guys".

If they had wanted to, they could have done that this gen; so basically it is the same.  Wether or not publishers do it or not depends on them; just as this gen.

"not going to allow" became "would not want" became "we're never going to be able to tell EA or Activision exactly what they can do."

Wtf lol. Reminds me of this classic jew joke:

Daughter says, "Dad, can I have 50 dollars?"

Father responds, "40 dollars? What do you need 30 dollars for?"

They're not going to allow online passes but they're not going to tell EA or Activision what they can do? Okay...

There will be no type of drm like some other consoles have BUT devs will still have the ability to restrict online with the online pass BUT Sony themselves wont make there devs do it BUT 3rd party devs will have the ability to do it if they want
