Will the fall line-up get Wii U's momentum going again?

Nintendo has the best slate of games going into the holidays for an 8th gen console. Plus it has more room to bundle and flex with the price. Sony is selling PS4 at a loss already so they really cant bend too much, and the launch games dont look super exciting (killzone is b league), and MS more or less priced itself out of the running. If nintendo cuts the price for the holidays its going to make them a force that neither Sony nor MS can ignore. They already have millions of consoles out there right now and will have millions more by then. Its a lead. Plus Nintendo will hopefully keep momentum building with future directs.

Besides its exclusives for the year are pretty damn good. Mario, DK, Pikmin, Sonic, 101, Zelda? Plus free online play. Its the cheapest console plus it has games. Its going to be an interesting fight. One thing is for sure tho, at least for me, the 8th gen really isnt that interesting overall yet. Maybe im just getting older

Games are fun.

If paired up with a price cut + a ambassador program (similar but probably not on par with the 3DS version), then it would be enough but as it stands now, Nintendo is gambling again on the casual push of Wii Fit and the bankable names of Mario and Donkey Kong.

Wii U will be just fine, nintendo has a strong first party game every month until new year and there's still TLOZ a link between worlds, Pokemon X/Y, Mario & Luigi Dream Team, Mario Golf, Plus Monster Hunter 4 for japan (and maybe even the west) they'll make lots of money, save the price cut for just before the new consoles hit and they are set for a great 2014 start with Mario Kart 8, Mario World, Bayonetta 2 and X coming, despite what many think they are actually in a very good position right now they just have to be smart and make the most of it.

I think given the PS4 $399 price point, a price cut is inevitable before they launch. I suspect it'll happen either mid-September, when Wonderful 101 launches, or in October when WWHD launches. There's no doubt in my mind that Wii U will be $299 by the time XBone and PS4 hit.

Also, I was just trying to list the Wii U releases, since that's the system Nintendo so desperately needs to creat some traction for. However, I appreciate you listing the 3DS games. A good question is: how much will the 3DS games affect Wii U this holiday? Or is there enough $ for both to be successful? (I suspect there's enough $ to go around for the two platforms, really...)

Well i got driven away by your ''will it be enough?'' ^^ - i think it'll be enough for Wii U but they need to trhow a direct or something around Jan/Feb with the NEW unheard of games for 2014, they hate to keep the momentum, they have to be smart. Now about this year i think they could even save the price cut for december with Mario World, it's a risky strategy but a price cut + system selller combo is almost guarantee for succes and there's no stronger system seller than Mario (3D) except maybe Mario himself (Mario Kart), it will find it's place in the market no doubt. I dare to say that there only two really BIG releases that could ''eat sales'' coming this year (apart from your usual cod and fifa) and that every company should evade those are Pokemon and GTAV, no prob with pokemon and nintendo has DK in november wich is a strong franchise that can stand on his own against GTA in late november, a week after at the very least, the rest well nintendo has to surf in the tornado that will be the launch of new systems around xmas, market the hell out of the Wii U, hey guys new consoles new consoles!! well we give you this alternative xmas bundle w/ deluxe Wii U + Nintendo Land + Mario World for only $319, hurry up! = Money.

-- Also please nintendo market Bayonetta 2, market X -- if you show those games in motion to the ''mainstream'' they ARE going to be interested but you need to knock their doors and tell them HEY we have these games - check them out - they are awesome - only on Wii U - boom, i KNOW that if Bayo is market correctly it will turn a lot of heads and make people interested in Wii U, with new consoles on the market and all the open world games: -shooters, action, fps-, they need to come out HEY we have this game, it's huge open world - HAS MECHS - can fight giant bosses - HAS MECHS - amazing history and soundtrack - HAS MECHS and YOU could be playing it - only on Wii U. They have to let people know that they are not buying the Mario&ZeldaBox, they are buying a huge library of quality exclusive games like Golden Sun, F-Zero, SmashBros, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Punch out, Star Fox, Kirby, Bayonetta, X, Pokemon, Advance Wars, Kid Icarus, plus NEW IP's (something they should be focusing on right now ¬¬), they have to tell people, we have games, they are fun, please understand that Wii U is a nintendo console not a mario console *laughs* -ENDRant- sorry ^^

I'm positive there are certain games that Nintendo have not shared to the public that will be releasing this holiday season. Nintendo is a very secretive company. I wouldn't be shocked if Nintendo announced other first party titles in the next few months via a direct.

Bit of whistful thinking there. Even if they could pull another game out of their back pocket to get gamers fired up, what could it possibly be?

As far as things go, those third party titles  will do well if they got sales up to double what they are now...which is to say they won't help much at all. Regarding First Party, I expect Mario, Donkey Kong, and Wii Fit (provided it launches in 2013) to do well, Windwaker to do okay, and the rest to do slightly below Windwaker (also, I thought Yarn Yoshi was in there, but I don't remember where". The first two weeks after they come out, I expect sales to pop above 100k, 300k for the big 3 titles. When all's said and done...I expect sales around 3,000,000 consoles from August to 2014.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

I like how almost every third party game is from Ubisoft. Really makes you wonder if this console will tail off later like the Wii......

I think its a great line up,but they need some new ip's.

Im going to buy one.

I have plenty to buy that's for sure.

They need more and the price should drop. I think the deluxe bundle is $350, but the ps4 is really close to the price of wii u.

nintendo would be better off if the 2013 games and the 2014 games were switched.

X, Bayonetta, MK8, etc should have come out this holiday.
