Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One delayed in Asia by up to a year (no mention of Japan)

Thought this was pretty big news as they are missing out on a huge market

From Engadget - http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/11/xbox-one-launch-asia-2014/

If you thought November 2013 was too long to wait, bear a thought for Asian gamers who will apparently have to wait those six months, plus an additional twelve, to pick up their Xbox One. According to Alan Bowman, Microsoft's Regional VP for Sales and Marketing in Asia, the new console will launch in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and India around late 2014. (Note the lack of Japan on that list, we're still checking with Microsoft on that.) These are all regions that have been marked as gaming high-growth areas by Microsoft -- the VP added that the Xbox 360 became the top-selling console in Asia this year. The company's also pointed to its next-generation Kinect sensor, one that will work in "dramatically reduced" room spaces and, according Bowman, will be better attuned to Asian gamers who might not have living room space in their homes.

that's a good 10,000 sales lost right there... dammit.

Aw man you seem really desperate... chill out a bit, it's getting pathetic.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Hmm... it must be all those multimedia features of Xbone, that it takes more time to adapt all the services to the Asian markets, translate Kinect stuff and aquire attractive broadcast rights an stuff.

They want to make sure they can offer something solid when they decide to launch in Asia and Japan.

Hadn't thought of it like that,

Makes sense..very probably the reason why

I thought that was common since the Wii U hasn't launched in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea yet.

There are those rumours about bad yields on the eSRAM which people said if true could affect the availability...

how huge?    Considering thay have probably sole about 3 million in 8 years in Asia, I dont think its that huge really... if we are honest.

yup its huge.. in 360's initial year, xbox had managed to outsell ps3.. and it is widly popular here in India.. and really you are comparing buying habbits of 2006 to 2013!

Noooo, I am comparing the bying habits of the last eight years which includes this current year.

yeah but of two different products.. Shouldnt microsoft try to build upon its 360 success in the west and retry with an agressive strategy in Asia for xbox one and build a fan base. there are small markets in Asia where xbox is much stronger than Playstation

...and the PS4 is def launching there with big supply?

You forget that SONY has NEVER done a global launch of a home console before.  Supply will be as tight as can be.

well if u keep track on PS4 news, back in Feb sony did mention, they were aiming for a worldwide release by having adequate amount of PS4's shipped, and I will take their word for it, coz so far whatever Sony has promised in regards to PS4 they have been delivering it.. and I wouldnt worry about my PS4 as i can get it from anywhere in the world as its "region Free".
