I just finished reading the entire op. I believe this is your best explanation of the matter so far. I now understand your vision and I'm actually more interested in Gamewise. You are right... Sometimes change is hard to accept especially when person doesn't have complete understanding of why the change is taking place. I'll actually give Gamewise a chance and I respect you for your work/dedication towards video game websites. You should give a shout out to oliist in your op for his contribution to the database.

oliist did an enormous amount for the VGChartz database and it is a shame that he didn't stay around, I think he'd be really at home on Gamewise.

He is still credited as being the top contributor since contribution points were transferred across to Gamewise - http://gamewise.co/contributions/top100

Yea, I just added that because I saw you give a shout out to Talonman. I also did a "stealth" edit to my post talking about the old what vehicle do you drive thread on my previous post. Anyways, you have convinced me to be more open about Gamewise. Like spurge said a better way to communicate (like a wall) on Gamewise might make it better.

to be honest.. i don't think thats legal.. there should be a way to opt-out on one of the sites..

You don't think what is legal, creating dupe accounts on Gamewise? I haven't checked the legalities but I don't really see an issue with it? We can always hide them and they just get activated if you chose to if people prefer that and some don't want to have a public profile over there? It just means that you will lose your game collections at some point then.

It was intended as an option to continue to use your data that you have spend time adding (i.e games you play / rate) rather than anything else.

Yup.. it's illegal cause we opted  in on vgchartz.. we made an account here.. not on gamewise..  legally you should have asked if you could transfer our account and information to the site called gamewise.. it's a seperate site.. (is gamewise in legal terms a separte company? that would make it even worse)  i know that it has the some owner but that doesn't mean you can use the information gathered at one site onto another one..  that's like a big no no in the european privacy rules.. with every change users should have the abilty to opt-out if they don't like it..

talking about privacy.. I don't think there is a cookie warning on this site? you should add one cause a site this big based in the UK could get a fine.. I think the max fine is like £500.000

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I hate seeing CheatCC in the top 10, considering the practices they used to have years ago. There is a reason why that site's name is blacklisted on GameFAQs and a lot of people who create FAQs/Walkthroughs don't allow the site to host them (myself included).

Anyways, as one of the admins over at Gamewise, the site is shaping up nicely and has the potential to be one of the top gaming sites on the web.

ioi, that's a lot for people to read, you take a long time to make a short point (just like me). Here's a short form.

VGC's Game Database is very limited, we made Gamewise. We wanted to make a game page which talks about every aspect and connects various characters and companies in a game. So for instance if you wanted to know what games Marth (Fire Emblem) was in, all you had to do was search his name, and his character would be linked to every game he is in.

We wanted to make a page similar to IMDB and various wiki's where information is connected. Plus multiplatform games get one page, so fans aren't split.

VGC's Database takes information from Gamewise's database. Since I've been spending a lot of time on Gamewise, I haven't really been checking if information has been copied properly. Michael-5 is here to check up stuff like that, and I will have VGC's database cleaned up, but Gamewise will be our main database. We aim for Gamewise to become in the top 10 gaming websites soon.

Cool fact about Gamewise Database's. You can make a custom collection. So instead of the traditional wishlist, and owned games list, you could make a list of "Games I'll never sell" or "Highly recommended games list." etc.

What is with all the hate? Don't read GamrReview Articles. Contact me to ADD games to the Database
Vote for the March Most Wanted / February Results

I'm the #65 contributor on Gamewise hehe

Now if only I could get one of them shiny new game collections

How do you add a new game to Gamewise?

Do I have an account on Gamewise already?

OT: Thanks for the clarification.

Any plans for a new site redesign? Make it look more serious instead of green.

Next gen VGchartz? :)

I'm digging the customizable collections thing.
