Forums - Website Topics - Quote trees are the devil and need to be gone!

I just drag and delete. Dunno what the syntax is for. Deletes the same way as a text box in word.

Moreover, I find the quote trees helpful. Dunno why they are such a pain for some people.

Is it possible (perhaps) to have an 'opt in' option rather than an 'opt out' option? What I mean by that is: Every quote box has a small box in the bottom right corner. You then simply tick the box of anything you want to quote. If you don't it only quotes the one comment you are replying to.

It's the best method available without altering the forum's code.

But I just click on the box I don't want to quote and delete, as I have here.

Apparantly people didn't know.

LOL

*edit*  My post originally stated how you had to click the dotted line above the post if you wanted to delete that one and everything after, then just hit delete.  Then I saw someone make a comment about ipad, and I guess that's the reason why you explained thte more difficult way.

I think you should edit the post that if the person has a keyboard though, click the dotted line above the newest quote you want to delete to delete that and everything older and hit delete for people who don't realize you can do as such.

It just looks needless for people not involved in the conversation and it's a pain to scroll through. We don't need the same post repeated 6 or 7 times as the tree grows!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Point taken. But if that's the point then you really need to consider that a differnt solution is much better.

If a conversation between two people is of no interest to the rest then the conversation should be embedded sideways next to the originally quoted post. Otherwise you'll have random replies on a forum and it'll be impossible to know who's talking to who if you're not involved - i.e. it'll be even MORE of a pain.

That unfortunately is the truth - a redesign for the forum layout. Otherwise the quote trees need to be kept up to a certainl length.

Or all quotes are kept in "spoiler tag"... need to click the button to see the quote tree, the page would see a little too clean.
