I find it rather sad too. When I was little (4-12) my grandparents lived in Chicago and it was a great place to visit. We went into the City every other day or so (we would go for 2-4 weeks over the Summer) and talking to my parents now they never worried for our safety. My grandparents retired in the moutains of NC and have not gone back since.
What happened?
And back to Infrastructure: We only replace things now a days. Why fix it when we can wait for it to crumble, kill some people, pay the lawsuites, then fix it ?
