Forums - Sony - You know what could be cool for PS4 ? Playstation Mobile.

Sony should learn from Steam's greenlight and have a community built in the PS4's UI that lets you not just buy Indie games (PS Mobile games) and also not just sell the games, but provide a built in SDK (Software Development Kit) within PS4 that allows not only developers but normal folks to make games and sell them within PS Mobile store , and they will be playable on Playstation certified stuff like phones, vita...etc, It would be a smart move from Sony if they want to appeal to people and it would work in their favour out of the backlash that Microsoft is getting.

That will make the PS4 not just a console but also kind of like the OUYA and a hub for mobile / indie games, they should open up to indie developers more.

Sony do seem to be doing just that when they're allowing their phones to have open source software

and are more embracing open source than they used to back when the whole "PSN Hacking" thing went on.

and the fact that they made the fee to make games on PS Mobile drop from $99 to free here

Don't you guys agree its a good idea? also given the fact that the console will probably have an HDMI in and HDMI Out like the Xbox one has , so it can be easily made into a devkit.

niche, pointless.

how are indie games niche and pointless? have you seen the games on Steam? Kickstarter?

Sony either need to go in balls deep with PlayStation Mobile or drop it. Because right now, it's useless.

They occasionally give a game some exposure on the blog but it's rare. It's not exactly prominent on the Vita's UI either.

They need to figure out what it actually is, too. It's for small indie games? So why is something like Switch Galaxy on PSM for £3; while Men's Room Mayhem is an actual PSN game for £1. Only solidified by the fact that Switch Galaxy is actually getting remade for PSN now, in what I can only assume is an attempt to get more sales.

It has potential, but they need to work on it a lot.

(Oh, and also, get it available in more countries. The current list is rubbish).

No let it die.. it's useless... uninteressting.. A thing about ps mobile is that it has to be compatible with...
THE XPERIA PLAY which was already underpowered when it was released.. don't let the mighty PS4 get caught in this unbelievable huge failure..

Also its free (forced) now but why would any indie developer want to make their game in a different C language then Android/iOS with no advantages at all besides having a smaller userbase.. which reflex in the sales cause they are beyond horrible.. Castle Invasion $0.49 sold 800 first month.. Life of Pixel sold a whopping 950..
Heck Sony themself aint supporting it with new ps1 ports..

worse of all.. you can buy content from it in 9 countries.. the SDK is available in more countries but you can't actually sell stuff in your own country..

PS mobile needs to die quickly and fast so Sony can come up with something better

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Yeah , what the heck with that? I'd get some PS1 games on my phone if they released them.

I think that "Something better" is just SDK built into PS4.
