True. I can only imagine what it was like for people who actually saw this. The part that got to me is that she survived for 15 minutes. I really hope she was out of it by that point and wasn't aware of anything.

That's really sad. As a current La Jolla resident, you get my condolences.
The possible reason it's not in any news outlets is to prevent other people from committing suicide the same way if they were thinking about it. Newspapers usually are hush-hush about suicides for that reason.
That said, there should be counseling readily available for anyone and everyone regarding this tragedy, and definitely raise awareness regarding suicidal thoughts and how to get help. Individuals can do their part as well by talking about it and befriending new people that seem to be alone fairly frequently.
3 people burned themselves to death at my university (in Egypt) and one guy drowned himself because of his girlfriend this year, it happens a lot really.

On a bright note that makes me, wtf and RTC San Diego area people. Cool, I wonder how many others exist here?
That's awful :(
On the side note, it is really weird that I cant find anything at all about it in the news...
Interesting in that there was a TOTAL media blackout on it.
Leads me to this question: does death have to be validated on the media all the time? The family will grieve and the school may be held accountable, but must it be on the news for all to see...maybe the family wanted privacy?
It's sad but it happens often. Unfortunately, people like to blame the person only, and not look at any larger picture. I think they do it to try to feel safe themselves.
Try to do something good with this experience. For me, from similar experiences I fight for same sex marriage rights cause I have seen to many gay people take their own lives because of bigotry and the abuse they have faced.
Sorry for your sadness /brohug.
It is interesting that it wasn't reported, but it isn't a big deal - there is no lingering threat to public safety.
Unfortunately these types of situations occur; especially in college.
Wow, that is crazy. What a horrible sight that must of been. I know it's a lot of work at college/ university but suicide? Really?
