The challenge has been laid down, someone will have to do a splatoon 2 vs monster hunter ps4 COMG chart

traditional home console vs handheld/home hybrid. its not a surprise this happened and it was a given. There will be many games that get more then ps4 ever does.

It is a surprise when the system has been out for under half a year (with no holiday) and it beat the records for every system (outside of 3ds).

Them again its splatoon, the biggest ip in japan. If switch install base was as big as the vita or ps4 currently splat2 pre orders would easily be over 2k by now!

Exactly it's the biggest ip in Japan.  No surprise at all.  And if it wasn't severely supply strained it would be even higher. 

First of all,points is not exactly sale after all. and second,Splatoon is the "biggest" ip in Japan? well, just keep waiting and be patient. I know someone was predicting 5 millions+ lifetime in Japan,but everything is still a "prediction" now.

First off, isn't it crazy that the game that most optimistic people said MIGHT sell 1 million life time has a sequel that is one of the hypest games in Japan and looking to do big globally too?  

Second, it ain't the biggest IP in Japan.  Dragon Quest, Pokemon, and Monster Hunter are all probably bigger.  I mean, DQ XI has over 1100 combined points without the Switch version up for orders yet.  But it's definitely big.  Still no small feat for such a young platform 

Sorry but the big 3 Monster franchises (pun intended) got dethroned by Animal Crossing and soon to be splat2!

And DQ11 is barely over a franchise thats on a userbase of barely a mil. That says something :p

Not the most surprising. If PS4 was as cheap as Switch at launch and DQXI released exclusively on PS4 (or even Switch) within 5 months of its launch at the same price as Splatoon 2 then I think it would do huge numbers or even bigger just like Splatoon 2 is right now.

But none of that happened, and the 2 situations are completely different. Sure it is fun to compare them, but not all things are equal.

Splat2 launching near switch launch doesn't mean much. Splat1 sold wirh crazy legs on a dead system 3/4 years after it launched. If splat2 released a year from now the game would of sold over 2mil fw.

That said i sure hope dq11 does double of splat2 being on 2 platforms, switch install base being a littlw over 1mil, and its freaking dq lol.

Btw im half way jk about splatoon being the biggest ip in japan
