Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Thurott brings more detail about the Next Xbox subsidized pricing

Just saw this on Neogaf:

Thurrot offered no details, if the contract for this Sub version would last for 1 or 2 years.

Even if it's one year that sums up to 480 $.
Is there clear what you get for the subscription? Gold?

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

He didn't specify, but it has to be gold.

So...It's a DLC console?

That makes more sense than $10/month, since $15 is the price for the 360 subscription, and since that makes it a more expensive deal in the long run than the standalone Durango with 2 years of standard Gold (assuming standard Gold remains $60/yr, and subscription Gold lasts for 2 years).

The problem is that it's probably too expensive. It would be $620 for standard console + 2 yrs standard Gold, and $660 for subscription console + 2 yrs subscription Gold.

Of course, "too expensive" is a relative term; if Sony prices the PS4 similarly, it's probably not a big deal. But if Sony can get the PS4 down to $400, Microsoft would be in trouble.

$659 for a console?
Wow.

By the way, I did screw up one thing: The $299 version of Xbox v.Next will come with a $15/mo XBLG subscription, not $10. Sorry about that.

Price. Microsoft will initially offer two pricing models for the console, offering a standalone version for $499 and then a $299 version that requires a two-year Xbox LIVE Gold commitment at an expected price of $10 per month.

I won't buy it subscription based, that's for sure...

Even 10$ was too much. that's 240$ plus the 300$ console...540$? Lol no thanks, anyone with grade one level math will recognize that is a rip off.

If this is true, it is definitely too expansive for most users. I am wondering if Sony also "offers" something like this.
I am especially waiting for a price without subscription.
