Forums - Gaming Discussion - WiiU and Vita owners, can we all agree that both consoles are similarly disastrous and move on?

Can we make peace?

I own a Vita that I enjoy, and I find it amusing that there are so many fights over which one is less doomed or will sell less. Who cares at this point?

The forums make it seem like this:

When it's more like this:

Both consoles are horrible disasters and have little to no chance of selling "well".

Both are doing very similar numbers.

Both will probably get sustainable sales and a decent amount of good games.

Does it matter who is less of a loser in the battle of the losers? Do we have to fight over who's console is more of a fuck-up when both are huge fuck-ups?

No, i don't think it matters who is weaker, because we are brothers in doom and should share one grave so at least noone has to die alone :)

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

I don't agree to that.

You're struggling to find a grounds of equality when it's quite obvious which is more doomed.

(Hint: It isn't the WiiU)

No seriously. Their situations are pretty different.

I think they will both make a pretty big turnaround this year, they wont sell nearly as well as there predecessors but will still sell solid numbers and will no doubt have great libraries of games.

Yep. Both are struggling.
Still, I do believe that both consoles will just do fine at the end of their respective commercial runs, but both will need a price cut AND software. Price cuts, as we saw in the case of Vita (in Japan) are not just enough to keep people interested.

Now, this discussion about "who dies first" is just pointless and dumb. We should be thankful, as consumers and video game fans, that we still have such variety of devices to choose in the market, specially now that this market has a bleak future ahead.

One of them certainly has more to look forward to in the future than the other. Yes, it's the one with Mario.

And if you think of this as a battle of losers, 8th-gen should be defined as "3DS and the rest".

See? That's what's laughable. So who cares which is "more doomed"?

They both seem pretty doomed to me.

Their numbers are very similar.

Vita in its 5th month (April 2012): 207.880
WiiU in its 5th month (March 2013): 207.861

I know Nintendo product do better in the holidays but even so, it will be a pathetic victory.

The problem is that people try to make them seem equal when they obviously aren't.

PS3, 3DS, Vita and Wii U all had post launch droughts and i think people are starting to wait a while til game selection grows and hoping for quick price cuts like PS3 and 3DS had.
