I'm sure the "EA bitterness" mantra would have worked about a year ago when both Nintendo and EA thought that the Wii U would sell like gangbusters out the gate. Now that reality has set in, I'm sure EA's reasoning is more of that they can get a better return investing in mobile and the vita then having to commit resources to the Wii U outside a couple good will jester games.

Your attempt to rationalize their fundamentally irrational decisions would work if any game were in question but Madden.

You think dropping Wii U support for Vita is ever a rational desicion?

In some cases, I think it'd be beneficial.

People pointing to the sales of Madden 13 and Fifa 13 as justification for this decision need to realise that neither of those games ever actually got released on the Wii U. What Wii U owners were offered was >1 year old versions of Madden 12 and Fifa 12.

Early adopters are typically pretty keen/knowledgeable gamers and so weren't going to fork out full price for last year's games, particularly when they had already been superseded.

Along with the Mass Effect 3 debacle, it's further evidence that EA is either stupid, intentionally setting the Wii U up for failure or both.

Mass Effect U will be announced.

Inb4BattleFieldU as well.

They had their chance to give Wii U the Mass Effect trilogy, instead they chose to give ME3.

And they've already announced that BF4 will not be coming to Wii U, so unless you're suggesting that they're wasting their time and money making a totally exclusive Wii U BF instead, which makes utterly no sense, then no.

Honestly who cares though? Most of EA's games and franchises are overrated, undercooked crap these days anyway. I'd far rather have a lot of the awesome looking indie games that are continually being announced for Wii U, than ANY of the so-called "AAA" garbage that a company like EA shits out year after year.

The Wii U is a pile of flop but I can't help but be annoyed at EA.

Specifically because Madden would work so well with gamepad. Having said that I'm not a Madden fan and maybe not a single Wii U owner actually cares about this news. In that case I guess EA have saved some money, I really do hope they follow their word and bring original titles to the Wii U like they did to the Wii.

What original titles? Onrails shooters? or the sports games in 09 that looked like kids games lol. Ironically their best sports effort on Wii were there first few releases haha.

Madden 13 was a bad port released months after the original release on a console with a userbase of zero. With ~30 other games (some of which were far better) released at the same time diverting the attention of the buyers the poor sales were not exactly suprising.

With a good port released at the same time as the other versions I'd say 150k sales would be reasonable, maybe more.

150k sounds way more reasonable and realistic, but 500k ? thats like every 3rd wiiu user in the us is buying that game.
I think it would sell around 100k at least if they could integrate the gamepad well ...

but even good ports dont really sell that well like nfs ...
I think nfs for wiiu is the best version by far, and i think it was released within 1week compared to other versions.
but 10k sold is just sad ...

Actually it was released six months after the other versions, but I agree that 10k sales are really sad...

6 months yes, but it was actually madden 12 rebranded as 13 lol. So that didn't go down to well with fans either.

This is terrible.

lol EA, we know you're a petty company that carries grudges. You're not fooling anyone.

At best the games were canceled by the previous administration and the new one is planning to resume them. Thats the only angle in wich i would belive this statement.
