Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Should I get a 3DS or save money for the Wii U?

Get the 3DS now or save the money?

Get the 3DS 156 63.93%

Save the money 86 35.25%

Total:242

So here's the thing. I have money for a 3DS (which is kinda expensive in my country) and 1 game (which will be Fire Emblem). But the thing is that I've never been a huge fan of handheld gaming. I have a DS but in all honesty I never used it that much, my gaming sessions were pretty much always on the PC and Wii.

The main reason for me to consider a 3DS is because of Fire Emblem, aside of that there is Kid Icarus and the upcoming Mario & Luigi Dream Team (which I'm a huge fan of the series). There are other games in my mind but those are the big ones for me.

Edit: There's also Virtue's Last Reward, which is the sequel to 999, one of my favorite games of all time.

The problem is that if I get a 3DS now, I might not be able to get the Wii U until longer than I anticipated (maybe next year) and with the possible line up of games for the holiday it will be kinda hard to wait longer lol.

So basically convince me to get a 3DS XL and spend $300 (that's both the system and Fire Emblem).

Why $300? The System is only $200 and the game is $40.

3DS cause it has the games now and more on the way

Wii U should wait. If you wait till next year like you suggest then at least you'll have a line-up of multiple games to keep ya busy.

That's in my country. Doing the conversion the 3DS is $250 and the game is $50.

I get where you're coming from. I'm not much of a handheld gamer either.

But damn, Fire Emblem is pretty great. I wouldn't say the Wii U currently has a killer app like that, except for maybe Monster Hunter... which is also on 3DS.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter if the (3)DS suits your lifestyle or not. You're just cheating yourself out of really great games if you don't get one.

I say Wii U for U.

You say you are not a huge fan of handhelds. I am the same and my 3DS is collecting dust. I would rather had that money put towards a Wii U muself.

EEEEK! I would just save for a Wii U. That is expensive for a 3DS. Nintendo needs to fix its business in other countries.

That doesn't have anything to do with Nintendo. Sony has a lot of influence in South America and their consoles are extremely expensive (well minus the PS2 but that's because is really old), the PS3 with one game is $360.

Something stupid that I didn't think about. Are there any issues when buying a game throw the eshop in Latin America? This question obviously goes to 3DS owners from Mexico and below

I can save myself $10 buying the game digitally.

I would go for the 3ds even though your not much of a handheld gamer. Reasons being is that its pretty much like a portable ps2. It has tons of great games out now and on the way. Has the most 3rd party support out of every system on the market today, and the graphics are much better than the ds. I would wait for the Wii U because who knows, there could be a price drop coming later this year or by the time you decide to get one. Plus if you get one now, you will be waiting awhile to get games other than MH3U and ZombiU. The next really big game for the Wii U that comes out will be Pikmin 3, and that does not come out until August.:/
