Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft Should Quit The Gaming Biz

I think so, I mean they really are changing the console business for the worse. We are forgetting what these machines were truly made for. What has Microsoft truly offered to gaming over the past few years? The only thing I could honestly say is a decent online service which one day will be matched by a competitor(Sony).

So you admit that MS' presence in the console industry forced Sony to improve it's online service which we can all agree is a good thing, but you also think MS should leave the console industry.....

Wut?

Considering Sony has no money and continue to spend resources on constant flops the opposite is more likely to happen

You need to stop frequenting that site. Are you going head to head against Nsanity or something?

I kid, but the venom is going to swell from stuff like this.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I personally think that the 360 revolutionized video gaming, and that it was good for the industry. It was my main console from launch till around 2008. I do agree that MS could have been a lot better in the last couple of years. I'm hoping that the lack of games is because they're working on the next xbox, but we'll see. There are things that I don't like about the xbox, but overall I think that it did more good than bad.

I do agree with most of this. Microsoft doesn't cater to their consumers as much as Sony does.

I make videos that are sometimes funny I think?

What? Lol? Yes, I admitted the only thing I like that Microsoft has done is the online. Thats it. What else have they contributed to gaming, nothing.  What will it contribute in the future generations? More then likely, Netflix, Hulu, iHeart Radio. I do believe they should. I don't understand what you're trying to say. They did one good thing, now they can leave.

after they invest so much $$$ on Kinect...??

NO WAY...

There needs to be at least ONE significant console manufacturer outside Japan.

Not really an article worth responding too but why not. MS has brought a great deal of positives to the gaming market including increased competition which results in better quality for the consumer. Why does the article claim gamers are fleeing MS when the 360 continues to outsell the PS3 in the largest gaming market? Wouldn't gamers in the largest gaming market pick the console they see as the best choice for their gaming needs?

Why does the article suggest indie development studios are more profitable than third party publishers? Does he have any data to support this?

This article seems to suggest that the only purpose of gaming is to support indie development projects and focusing on standard genres is not only unacceptable but shameful.

Indie development will always have its place in gaming but large scale projects supported by large publishers will always be the most valuable and in the end their success allows for pet indie projects.

And at least one that isn't significant in Japan. Yeah, MS needs to stay.
