Forums - Gaming Discussion - If the 360 ends up at $99, does the PS3 eventually surpass it in sales?

Does the PS3 surpass the 360 in sales if there is a $99 360?

Yes 61 54.95%

No 49 44.14%

Total:110

They're out for prey .... again.... I hate 'em.

why buy a 360 now? I guess they might as well since the next xbox isn't backwards compatible.

Ask the 80k ppl weekly why.

let me ask you then...

??? You are saying I am one of these 80k ppl every week? Not really, do you?

Actually i expect a little nasty suprise with the new $99 360: It won't have a dvd drive and will play digital distributed games only. They could start with ''all major X360 titles will now be available in digital form on the marketplace''. And then they will announce the digital only $99 360. Much like the mini Wii that missed some features aswell.

Disagree.

Superiority can be measured objectively. Let's look at the facts at what you get from your basic models:

PS3- free online, bluray, plays games

360 - paid online, no bluray, plays games

Pretty clear.

Superiority is entirely opinion in this context because everyone has their own different variables to compare.

360 - better online of multiplats, better serivces and integration, better controller, plays games

PS3 - crappy online of multiplats, less services less integration,  worse controller, plays games

See?

None of the aforementioned are applicable to the base purchase. Services are an additional cost. You don't even get to play online multiplats with the base cost.

You have a case with the controller I suppose. (Although I disagree of course.)

it's not that they're telling not to get a xbox; it's that I just don't want to play with them. but it seems that they don't understand.

It's an old promotion that at the time was pretty well advertized. Of course a no catch $99 system would do better, but it's somewhat already been tried.

It's advertised a heck of a lot more now that it has rolled out to a couple more retailers than it ever was before but it's still an entirely different ball game. Again, $99 console at select retailers for which you have to get a credit check and sign a 2 year contract where you pay $15 a month versus go anywhere that sells Xbox consoles and stroll out with a $99 Xbox. Not remotely close to the same thing at all.

The PS3 will keep selling for another 4 years, the 360 not so much, probably will get discontinued at the end of 2014.
