Forums - Sony Discussion - Will the PS4 be a revolution to the industry?

Anyone who says no is either just lying to themselves or ignorant on the matter.

Fact is the Ps4 will be revolutionary... just might not be so obvious or easily seen. as say motion controls were (which oddly enough proved to be a fad which is something people were arguing up and down for)

Every console ever made was an evolution or a revolution of the previous gen.  I think the OP is talking about something that will change gaming in a huge way like motion controls, xbox live, or the CD drive though.  Even achievements was pretty big.  Sharing has potential to be big but it also cant be an internet hog or it will be only used by people who have very good internet.

I would say blindly saying yes with little infor is more ignorant than people who are saying no.

There is only one answer to this question, luckily enough is a fairly simple one: No

"Wii are legion, for Wii are many"

No, simply no. Does it need to be a revolution anyway? It will be a cool ( and hopefully succesfully ) console with lots of awesome games and lot of featurettes.

All I see is the question asking if it will change console gaming or industry. And it will do that. No if's ands or buts about it. Sharing being the most obvious one but still many more ways than  that.

Retail game industry will change. Developers will change. There will be tons of changes to a lot of aspects of the industry by the time Ps4 is done

Yes but his question was implied.  To the way you are answering the question then every console ever was a revolution (evolution) of the previous console.  As for a bigger change then no it will not have the same effect as motion controls, XBL, or the CD drive.

That is fine for you to have an opinion but dont call people ignorant especially when you decided to take a different approach to the question than most people.

No, though I guess people have different ideas about what constitutes "revolutionary". For instance, the NES was revolutionary, as was the PS2 for having a DVD player. These things changed gaming and future gaming consoles. Calling motion controls revolutionary at this point, however, kind of bothers me, as it's looking like more of a fad than a permanent change. We'll have to see how Kinect 2.0 catches on.

Personally, I don't need revolution. Remember, revolution isn't always a good thing. I much prefer evolution. What I want from hardware is a high quality canvas for the games themselves, which I think is where the innovation should come from.

Not really. It looks like a great console and im sure it will be successful but many things that they are doing has been done before. Even sharing was already done by Onlive. Onlive was very interesting but the problem lays with the fact that people's internet is just not good enough for a lot of the stuff that they are doing. That is something galkai is going to have issues with. For the people who can use it are going to love it but there will be tons that cant use it.

Anyways why is it suppose to be revolutionary exactly? The last revolutionary thing that happened to the industry was motion controls and to many that could have hurt the industry as much as it has helped

motion control was done tons of times prior to the wii and it still changed the industry.  as it has been discussed a million times before, it's not really who does it first but who makes it popular.

OT - maybe.  not so much the hardware but the services surrounding it (gaikia) that has a chance to be revolutionary.  i fully expect something similar from MS but if this truely is the "last gen" and it transitions gaming into being a service not a machine then the word revolutionary will be required to describe it.

lol you act as if im not aware of this haha

Probably because of the bolded. Your post does seem like you think it won't be a revolution because of a lack of never before seen features.

4 ≈ One

nope

It's the most powerful console ever. So yes.
