Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's down, but not out.

It's negative, but I think the negativity is justified a bit. The longest drought in console history, right at the beginning of it's lifespan. That in itself is pretty bad, but the fact that the Wii got little to no support it's last few years, coupled with this, spawns a negative mentality. I'm angry about it myself.

@ tbone- I too liked Bomberman generations on cube lol ( i think thats what it was called). Billy Hatcher was cool as well.

yea bomberman was big on N64 and a little on GCN, then it died! Hope it makes a comeback, even in SSB4 lol

One quick thing: mainline Pokemon games Don't release on consoles, so Pokemon won't help. But Yeah I get what you're saying, many of their heavy hitters haven't released, most notably SSBU

Yeah you have a point about Pokemon, but that new WiiU pokemon game with the interactive figurines could be huge depending on how the game shapes up, especially with the younger crowd.

Pokemon rumble U right?  One with the toys? I see that becoming a hit with the younger kids. Imagine the profit of people buying hundreds of. Pokemon toys to use in the. game

I've been reading a lot of comments lately concerning who will come out on top once the 8th gen is over with, and there seems to be a general sense that most people think that Ninetndo is done for.

Why do you think this? The console's sales are drastically low right now, but this is Nintendo. A pokemon game? Mario Kart? Super Smash Bros!? When these titles and others like them begin to launch, does anyone believe the sales will remain at the level that they are at? For those of you counting out Nintendo from 1st, or even 2nd place for next gen, maybe you should step back, take a breath, and relax. Who would've thought that the Playstation wouldve destroyed the N64 like it did, or that the PS3 would recover from its situation in 06-08.

The generation is barely started, so before you count Nintendo out, remember that the PS4 and 720 are not even launched yet. Anything can happen. Have an open mind.

^_^ Don't be so garsh dang negative :P Especially when we have 6+ years left to this race!!!

(I realize telling the Forums not to be negative is like telling a toddler that they can't have a toy, but it feels like this needs to be said... At least for the rational among us!)

Let's just point out a few issues with your post:

1)The wii was an "in" item. A lot of sales of the wii were to casuals, and casuals do not look to upgrade until the next "in" item arrives. Right now, said items are smartphones and tablets.
2)The PS had a much better library of games than the N64, ranging from the likes of GTA to FF. This is a common story for core consoles - the console with the best library wins.
3)The PS3 has the advantage of bluray and has actually almost always sold more week-on-week compared to the 360. It was always just a matter of time.
4)The issue is the Wii U has yet to demonstrate itself as next-gen; it's currently kicking out similar quality titles to much cheaper, established consoles.

I really doubt the Wii U will manage to sell more then 24 million. In an era of multiplatform core games, the Wii U isn't offering any of that to a degree that beats the 360 or PS3.

Best thing you can do is ignore the doom-sayers and watch as the numbers speak for themselves once the system sellers release.

Situation is back to normal for Nintendo, before the Wii.

The fact that sales have increased with literally zero games released point towards a bright future

You obviously thoroughly read the OP, but totally missed the point.

nintendo made some mistakes with the WiiU but the WiiU still hasnt been 6 months on the market, the 3DS has a rough start as well but its doing great in japan and in the west its doing pretty good, not great but its selling good enough that it can make them a lot of money from the western market. point is, nintendo is no where near "done"
