Lara wasn't all that well excepted either, but the difference is the way the looks changed.

I guess what I meant was I don't think tomb raider fans are as vocal, and despite my love for underworld, and it's an awesome game. I know that tomb raider hasn't been percieved as a top tier franchise in 10 years by more than a few. 

It's also a lot harder to criticize a character who's design is less sexualized, and still sort of looks like lara if she wasn't the cartoony original.

Dante was turned into a  little brat, who looks "emo", from a character that was previously percieved as bad ass.

But White Hair Dante looked like just as big of a douchebag as the Black Hair Dante. Both are completely ridiculous characters and I've never understood how he ever appealed to anybody.

Lara Croft was a cool character in the 90's, got cooler this gen, and she's been replaced with an even cooler younger model. She just keeps getting better.

OT: New Lara Croft looks quite similar to the older Lara Craft, It's not completely different than Dante. Also people hate change even if it's good change.
