define mainstream

Yes, Hair is very important in games. Did you play tomb raider? why do you think it's a good example?

Your cartoony comment reminded me of this http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=146565&page=1

Isn't Nintendo always defined by "doing what other's don't"? (At least that's how Game Critics and Analysts describe Nintendo...) If so, I want them to stay away from mainstream as much as possible.

I wish they would consider a racing sim ala gran turismo with a Zelda budget. And more sandbox games.

Its the only complain I've got when it comes to Nintendo games.

I dunno about mainstream but I find that I absolutely 100% cannot only buy Nintendo consoles. It just isn't nearly enough and hasn't been since the N64 era.

The multiplatform games that do end up on Nintendo consoles tend to be the lesser version in one way or the other and I absolutely must have near the the best version of a given title.

So whether they go mainstream or not isn't really the question for me. It's what other consoles must I buy and/or how powerful of a PC must I make that year in order to have a complete gaming experience.

But Nintendo have Mario Kart.

Infinitely better than any racing sim. Come on, it has Mario in it!

Don't see what you mean. Nintendo is considerably more mainstream than pretty much any other video game company. I do believe they should continue going in this direction, though.

Either way, Nintendo is going to fail.

I thought that was the current trend, what with recently pushing more grounded franchises like Fire Emblem and Xeno. And Bayonetta 2, but that seems like a very obvious attempt at trying to gain some "hardcore cred".

Metroid could be going in the right direction, but any sparkly new cool aspects need to match up to the quality of all the usually awesome aspects of the series.
