Not it isn't. Not compared to ds. And the handheld market is only going to continue to shrink. Its already so small it can't support two platforms like it did last gen (psp and ds). 

Compare it to the ds or not, the 3ds is selling well that is fact. You forget the world economy is much worst than it was when the ds was released. Selling 14 million year is a great accomplishment this is without a new pokemon game it can only get better after that.  If the 3ds has a 7 year life cycle it should reach 100 million units sold worldwide. Lets say your right that phone/tablet take the casual market there is still a strong market for dedicated gaming devices. The 3DS should do as well as its predecessors. i got the number below. Ps vita not selling is sony's fault not because of a shrinking market.

gameboy 118 million

gameboy advance - 81 million

nintendo ds - 150 million

No, I wanted a link to that statement from Nintendo. When did they say they wouldn't do SW only?

I wish I could find a link specifically to what I remember reading or watching.  It was an interview with a high up at Nintendo.  They explained the importance to Nintendo about being able to control the hardware to be able to what they want from a game developer standpoint.  Shame I can't seem to find it.

If you really want to ignore the reality of phones and tablets feel free. Poor ds sales (you might want to take a look outside of Japan before you say they are good) and abysmal vita sales are just the beginning.  Pokemon and mario can only keep a dedicated game platform afloat against cheaper (with far cheaper games),more powerful and more versatile phones for so long.

OMG i see how it all fits together now, by 3DS making the PSVita sell bad it means in return the 3DS and in whole Nintendo is going to be doomed cos the only reason PSV is selling bad is cos the market is clapsing and nothing got to do with people just not wanting a PSV, so by people picking the 3DS over the PSV in what remains of the handheld market means they will enter a void of one handheld and in return eat themselfs alive turning into mindless zombies that only wants Angry Birds on IOS O_O .


Cuz Sony can do no wrong. They are perfect. Ps4 has 8 gb of gddr5 ram didn't you know that.Microsoft and Nintendo are holding the gaming industry back, Sony is moving the industry foward because it has trillions of pixels and has a lot of shit going on the same time.

Its certainly fine enough for people to buy a ton of tablets and phones. Phones you could argue are a necessity, tablets sure as shoot aren't. As for 3ds sales, it couldn't break 150k in a 5 week npd. That's bad, no way to spin that. Its doing as bad in Europe. Japan is the only reason 3ds hasn't been an abject failure of a system. And it did worse in the west in 2012 than 2011 when it spent a lot of its time at 250 bucks.

It parallels what we see in the mobile space with so many bad games.  It is giving even the big boys trouble.  Zynga just closed some studios.  It is possible for the mobile well to be posioned.  If people want to play games, they have plenty of choices other than the mobile market.
