Forums - Gaming Discussion - Petition for Hiroyuki Ito (Director: FF6/FF9/FF12) to direct Final Fantasy XV

Please sign and spread the word. We can't chance Motomu Toriyama being the director again:

http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/please-appoint-hiroyuki-ito-as-the-producer-director-of-final-fantasy-xv

I tried to to put as much depth as possible into why Yoichi Wada should choose Hiroyuki Ito as director of FFXV. If you can think of things to add that will further our cause then please feel free to PM me or leave a message on my wall.

Who is that guy and why should it change? The company is rotten to the core heading fast towards a future where they'll only be making tech demos and iOS remakes.

No need to petition for something that is already happening.

Hiroyuki Ito is the most taleneted game designer still at the company. Also, he has not worked on a single HD game this gen. The last game he had a hands-on role with was FFXII.

Some more info from his Wikipedia page:

Hiroyuki Ito (伊藤 裕之 Itō Hiroyuki?), also credited with the spelling Hiroyuki Itou, is a Japanese game producer, game director and game designer who has been working for Square Enix since 1987. He is famous for being the creator of various gameplay systems used in the Final Fantasy series. Notable examples of his work include the Active Time Battle (ATB) system, Ability Points (AP) system, Job Change system, Esper Magicite system, Relic system, Materia system, Charge Time Battle (CTB) system, Guardian Force system, Junction system, Triple Triad card game, Active Time Event (ATE) system, Mognet, Tetra Master card game, Active Dimension Battle (ADB) system, License Board system and Gambit system.

Hiroyuki Ito is also famous for being the director and game designer of Final Fantasy VI (1994), Final Fantasy IX (2000) and Final Fantasy XII (2006). He is also famous for being the game designer of Final Fantasy V (1992), Chrono Trigger (1995) and Final Fantasy Tactics (1997).

It's not happening. In an interview with him at TGS 2012 (September 2012) he basically confirmed he no longer works on FF games. However, he said that if people wanted him to return to the series, they should ask Yoichi Wada. That's one of the reasons I've made this petition.

I would like to see that interview.

Gosh. S-E really has lost it. Ito is the most talented director from the Square side of the company. Responsible for FF IX and XII's greatness, as well as a huge part of VI's. My 3 favourite games in the series.

Kitase is taking the franchise down with every games he touches.

S-E really has lost it.

Square Enix isn't rational in the first place, so I doubt any kind of petition will make them change any business plans. All I know is that I just can't handle another FFXIII.. I can't..

No problem. Here's the quote and source:

1UP: Do you anticipate working with the Final Fantasy series again? Is that something you'd like to do or something you think you'll do?

HI: I'm a working stiff, so if the president tells me to do it, I'll do it. [laughs] Talk to Mr. Wada.
