Forums - PC Discussion - Minecraft - How Long Have You Stuck with a Single World?

I usually go until I die and then restart a new world.  I also have mucked around with some other configs.  I will also try a new world if there is a new update.

Nice to see such quick responses! Anyone happen to know of any good upload places for pictures that don't have size limits? I'd love to show you guys my map.

@360 Players
Good that you guys are having fun with it! I haven't played it, but I've heard it's fun on the 360. I'm quite biased toward the PC version, I admit, because of the total lack of size limitations on the maps. My map actually takes a good two hours to try and sail across on boat. It's pretty crazy.

@IsawYoshi
Got any screenshots of your work? Sounds like that would be a pretty fun project.

@KungKras
Nice! So at least one long termer so far. I think I'll ask the same as Solaron and wonder if you have any screenshots? I'd love to see any you have. I've had a few long projects so far, the longest of which was creating a World Tree using only Survival mode. Far more thrilling to do massive builds in Survival than Creative, I've found. You actually get nervous and the blood starts pumping when you're standing on a one square wide scaffold seventy squares above the ground. Bit of a thrill. heh I've focused on three things: making impressive fortresses and homes, delving down into different dungeons and crevasses and exploring well out into the boonies. Makes for a very satisfying experience.

My computer crashed, and I lost all my work. I actually stoped playing minecraft because I realized how much I lost. But I can try to give you an image in your head. It was 201 blocks in diameter. The city was sorounded by a wall, around 60 blocks high at the highest, but for the most part 10 blocks, since I made it between some mountains. The wall had a 3 block wide room inside along the whole thing, and ten floors. The main tower basicly looked like the maain tower in minas tirith. There were also an enormous mine dug out by tnt under, to get all the material for the city.

Ugh, that has to be more than a little frustrating. The sheer amount of time I've spent on my world makes me keep up like four different backups these days, because I would be so dejected if I lost what I'd managed to put together. Hopefully you'll get inspired again and will try to get rolling on playing once more!

I'll wait 'till I get a more competent pc. I'm really interested in tekkit, or feed the beast, but I'm not sure that I could play it as flawlessly as I want to :/

Well, here's the most recent project I did. My World Tree.

http://imgur.com/QT2IW3r

I've done varying things before this, but only a couple so far were really long term, big projects. This one took me the longest at about two weeks. All the trees that are vertical were grown, not placed, and this took a LOT of scaffolding.

@cchaos

Lol, that gigantic tree reminds me of my 1st world.
I have been creating a gigantic tree village. That one tree looks a lot bigger is scope than mine. Though mine is focusing more on many different trees and a civilization . It looks sweet

Oh and actually, I hate gold as I feel on principle multiplayer should be free. The xBox us the only one that does that.

^^ WOW! You guys put my paltry buildings to absolute shame! That tree house is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! What did you use to make the top of the tree look like that?

On a side note I wish the 360 version would get all the nice things the PC version has. Also you guys think there will ever be a Minecraft 2? (especially in the case of next gen consoles?)

A tree civlization would be pretty cool. heh You'll have to show that off when you get it done.

Well, first I grew the trunk up to the height I was looking for, then I created a massive, single block dirt layer around the top of the trunk. Using that, I grew trees at different levels from the outside of the tree canopy toward the middle. After all of those trees were grown, I side placed logs between each tree to give the look of massive branches, which fed into one of four larger branches that came into the middle. The result is as you see. Took some doing, but I think it turned out well.

The 360 will be getting the cool things the PC does, but it'll just take some time. The PC version had a massive head start and was the first to be developed, so naturally it would be far ahead of the pack. And there may be a Minecraft 2 far flung into the future. Right now, the sales are still amazing and Mojang still updates the PC version in leaps and bounds, with Beta snapshots still releasing weekly. So if there IS a sequel? That's a very future thing. heh

And here's a few more pictures from projects I've been working with off and on.

The aquarium room of my underwater fortress. I decided I wanted a base that didn't really look like much on the surface and, at the time, was practising to make a fortress that nobody else could find if I decided to play on a MP server. So, I hollowed out an underwater mountain. I'll get more pictures of that when I make it more impressive, but that's my viewing room.

That black area on the tower is a lighting glitch. They happen sometimes. This was The Tower, which I mostly built when I was playing with different types of architecture and the like. It's pretty massive, as the peak goes to y=140, so approximately 80 squares tall. I've already managed to link this one to my Nether rail network (which I can post more on, if you guys want to see that) and, amusingly, has a friggin' massive double chasm/dungeon beneath it. I actually carved off the top of a mountain to get all of the cobblestone I needed. Heck of a build and took me about a week.

This picture was NOT a personal build. This thing is actually a desert temple, which was added to the PC game reasonably recently. The second picture, however, is what it looked like when I found it. So, because I needed a home in this particular area of my map, I dug it out completely, swiped the treasure in the basement, modified it so that I would be able to use it as a secure shelter and voila, instant ancient looking home!
