Well, the thread name is not very good since it's an MMO but it's not FINAL FANTASY. Anyway here is what I found out while picking up sessions to attend at GDC:

Session name: The technology of FINAL FANTASY

Speaker: Taku Murata

Overview: The new game engine will be used for FINAL FANTASY XIII, new MMORPG under development, and other titles in the future. In this talk, Taku will describe the whole process of the engine development; why now, why not third party engine, what is unique, how it is being developed, what were challenges, etc. You'll be able to see the technological essence of FINAL FANTASY development.

The new game engine is the White Engine (PS3 only), we all know that already. What we didn't know is that the new engine will also power a "new MMORPG under development" and "other titles in the future".

Hey XI wasn't horrible xD just had many problems, primarily due to the fact that it wasn't casual in the least >_>; but in my opinion it was better looking, had a deeper party system, was way more economy focused and had a more interesting storyline than Wow :P Wow just happed to be more fun because you could actually do something out of a party xD

If they could make another MMO, and leave out the sucky bits I would be more than thrilled xD

OT: Was never a fan of FFXI but i would be willing to give this game a try :D

Wow, this would be great...I would LOVE to see a new FF MMO---especially with the PS3....hell you could meet up with people in Home (everyone is invited to my apartment) and plan strategy before entering the game.

SE has been developping a new MMO for quite some years now. I wouldn't be surprised if this new MMO is part of the FF XIII franchise!

Sounds interesting, some time ago this was announced for to be on the 360 I believe, but after the latest remarks from Wada, it seems like the platform for has  become PC/PS3.

If its anything like ff11 then im out. That game was terrible. Can anyone say Level Grinding Till You Rot?

Have you even played FFXI or just assumed it was bad because that's what people that played WoW told you?  FFXI is actually an amazing MMORPG with all the fairly well balanced jobs, subjobs, and group tactics.  The main reason it gets shit on so much is because it forces you to actually work with people and actually is hard at some parts (as opposed to WoW where you could play by yourself in your sleep).

It says white engine is ps3 only. I thought it was cross platform?
