Just saw Jack the Giant Slayer in 3D IMAX.

Its definitely the best movie of the year, so far.

Its as an original movie as any movie in this modern age can be, and it's tale gets twisted into the original fairy at end of the movie thru the story being told each and every generation until it got distorted (in the movie)

I wish that even more would happen in the 3rd act, but there didn't seem to be anything else that could have been that when going all out making a movie that is inspired out of Jack & the giant beanstalk (or whatever the original fairy take is called).

Anyways this movie was down perfectly and was directed by the same guy who wrote & directed the first 2 X-Men movies as well as Superman Returns (the famous out-of-the-closet Director, LOL)

The storyline is really good and well thought.

The 3D shows that such a movie should never be shown in 2D.

And I loved seeing the actor who played young obi wan in his new role, as well as the actor from "Warm Bodies" as the lead.

Anyways I don't want to spoil the movie, but it is good.

And I love how this movie ends in the 21st Century (our time)

And the Credits where done perfectly in 3D, without it trying to do some gimmicky showmanship crap.

But I think 3D will go the way of audio & color in movies & tv, where it starts out being used like Batman series 1960's (starring Adam West), but go the way of being use like modern day live action shows where they don't even think about it being use anymore even though it's there.

I don't think so. Color and audio allow you to do more while 3D limits the artistic possibilities.

Actually 3D makes everything look much more crisper then HD could ever do visually.

Have you ever played a Nintendo 3DS with the 3D ON? It makes the graphics look more crisper then playing 2D HD 1080p games on a 2D 1080p HD TV does.

HD is the most useless thing ever made, I mean IMAX is a million times better then HD. But there will always be people in America making useless things for a quick buck with all the big corporations copying to make some quick money themselves.

And you clearly have not seen such movies as Cirque De Soliel 3D nor The Great & Powerful OZ 3D nor Hugo 3D and so fort, to be saying such lies about 3D.

2D has limit the artistic possibilities of film by condensing everything into a flat 2D image. Just compare 3D photos of Flowers to 2D Photos of Flowers and you will see what I am talking about. YOu can never show nowhere near the full beauty of plants in 2D and at is fact. (just turning the 3D OFF when viewing a 3D Photo of a bloomed flower on the Nintendo 3DS after viewing in 3D and you will see what I am talking about)

Actually I had 3D at the end of the 90's. Among other games I played Descent 2 entirely in 3D, played around myself with stereoscopic 3D and made a program to generate auto stereoscopic images. I even visited Futuroscope in France to watch all the 3D tricks.
So far I've seen nothing to suggest that stereoscopic filming techniques have drastically advanced.

You can do tons of things with perspective that you can't do in stereoscopic 3D. It's nice for close ups to look at objects, but for wide shots the effect is drastically reduced and you're better of with a flat HD image. Sure 1080p 3D basically gives you 3840x1080 resolution, (if actually filmed/rendered for both eyes seperately instead of post production) but I'm looking forward to 3840x2160 2D. (Or at least some super bit 1080p stuff)

The biggest problem with stereoscopic 3D for me is the fixed focal length. Here's something in front of you, but you have to focus on the screen behind to see it, which gets even more confusing when the director changes focus between fore and background. It's great for a 40 minute IMAX show, especially in one of those huge 150 degree dome theaters, but that's about as long as I can stand it.
On tv it's crap, everything looks like a miniature set. Fine for something like Coraline but live action loses all immersion for me.

Btw I do a lot of nature photography and never once thought a macro shot would look better in 3D. I'll give you one thing though, forest shots are really hard to get good depth in. For those 3D does add a lot.

I have never had problem with the focal length because both the background & foreground are focus on at the same time while also seeing the depth & distance & dimensions, in Nintendo 3DS with the 3D ON and all the way up & the 3D movies I have seen.

The only blurring I have ever seen was in real life for me to focus on either the background or foreground, but that went away after several months of playing the Nintendo 3DS with the 3D ON and all the way up 24/7, but I did see 1 to 3 short scenes in "Hansel & Gretel 3D" that was directed to have someting blurry in either the background or foreground but that was it.

And many scenes in movies & Shows are shot up close to something most of the time because they are movies & shows.

Have you seen any 3D movies since 2012?

Also I would suggest that you go see "The Great & Powerful OZ" this March in 3D.

And I guess I could see how you would find watching on a 3D TV annoying when you think about it as miniatures walking around in front of you, LOL. But I guess I just see it more as an action or some kind of very fictional film in front of me for just enjoying the cinematography, for watching a 3D TV for such things as Tron Legacy & Yogi Bear movies and so fort.

Also, 3D has change a lot, as shown in Castlevania Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate, which you can download the Free Demo now in every country, also as shown in Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D which you can download the free trailer of from the eShop, and also Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, which you can stream 3D videos of right now in the eShop. And also shown in Crashmo & Dillon's Rolling Western the Last Ranger.

I was going to do a Non-spoiler review of The Great & Powerful OZ 3D IMAX, but I wanted to listen to it in Dolby Atmos, and it was sold out.

I should have a Non-Spoiler review by this Thursday.

Dolby Atmos is 64 speaker sound and so fort, so it completes the 3D experience. And it also makes you hear directly right above, which is one of the 2 blind spots of my surround sound headphones that I use for my 3DS "Plantronics Gamecom 777". The blind spots per say, are; directly right above & directly right beneath you.

Anyways, I guess I can make up for this by writing a little more about "Jack the Giant Slayer" 3D IMAX:

Its about these Monks and how all monks (the European monks) have knowledge of ancient magic, so anyways, they created a Magical Pod so they could plant magical seeds, so they could see their God, but when they got to what they thought was Heaven, it turn out to be a place between Heaven & Earth where a fearsome immortal giant race lived, they threw the monks down to their deths and climb downed to earth and stoled all of mans most valuable belongings and while doing so ended up with a taste for mankind to eat blood, bone and whole. So the monks slayed a giant and cut out its heart to melt it down and mold it with black magic to create a crown to rule over giant hearts, so the the king of the kingdom seared the crown and command the giants to go back from where they came, and had his own kingdom sever the link between their land & earth, and when the King died, he was buried with the magic crown and remaining seeds to rest in peace forever.

Its not an exact quote, but it's close enough, anyways that's like the first 5 minutes of the movie. (FIRST 5 MINUTES)

Also, I updated the List again: appearatly Disney/Pixar is now making a Movie called "Planes" after Disney/Pixar has made such kid movies as "Cars" LOL. The base idea just seems so extremely lazy.

Jack The Giant Slayer And Escape From Planet Earth was good in 3D. I liked it better than the 2D version

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters to me was not good in 3D. It was giving me a headache.

So the first 3D movie this year "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" was #1 in the Box office, and then Jack the Giant Slayer, and now "The Great & Powerful OZ".

And I couldn't help but notice the perfect timing of the New crappy Simpsons episode, where Homer says: but the writing has finally caught up to the technology in 3D Movies.

Nintendo has given Dreamworks the green light to film "Super Mario Bros 2".  Oddly enough, Bob Hoskins (who just turned 70 years old) and John Leguizamo (age 48) have been confirmed to return to their roles as Mario and Luigi in the sequel to ‘Super Mario Bros’.

The fans of this movie have been blogging about a sequel for years, to pick up where the last one left off.  And now after all these years, those fans are getting exactly what they've been asking for.

Italian Director Lonnie Carlito has revealed little about the plot of the movie. We do know that the role of the villain in the movie, King Wart, will be played by John Lithgow (3rd Rock from the Sun) , and the Shyguys will be played by popular 90’s actors Matthew Lillard, and French Stewart.

Regardless of whether or not Legiuzamo or Hoskins wanted to do the movie, it turns out that they both signed a contract back in 93’ that promised at least 7 more ‘Mario’ movies.  That may have been a bad idea, because Dreamworks is already working on plans for Super Mario Bros 3, 4, and 5.

So if you haven't seen the first one, then make sure to go see it. Mario & Luigi & King Koopa shoot fire, there's a Big Cheep Cheep who's after Mario, there's also Spike & Princess Daisy & Yoshi & Bullet Bills & Bomb-Ops & many others in the First Movie, with such things as a mushroom turning giant and a final boss battle like in Super Mario World SNES, well what's not to like about the first movie from the 1990's.

The headaches would have gone away already, if you had bought a Nintendo 3DS LOL. (after 1 to 2 weeks of using the 3D)

Glad you like them too.
