Forums - Gaming Discussion - Update: Junction Point closure confirmed

In all honesty I think this could of been successful and they'd have shuttered it - Disney have been scaling back on console developement for the past few years and with Disney Infinity it's clear to me they want that to be their main focus now. As soon as Skylanders ripped up retail Epic Mickey 3 was never gonna happen - even if 2 hadn't bombed so hard.

The sales of 2 themselves are a combo of woeful reviews and the lower Wii software sales compared to 2 years ago.

I don't get how they can't break even with a million sales. The game is completely average and the bulk of the work has already been done with the first game.

They employed a peak of 700 or so people to work on the game. Development also lasted two years. They found a way to squander that money, alright.

700? That's bonkers.

Until developers (customers?) learn to temper their expectations to something reasonable, the heads are just gonna keep on rolling.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

Meh.
Bad games.
Disney should let Nintendo have a go at Mickey & Donald, now that would be amazing. Retro, maybe?

Junction Point had false expectations... I take the blame for buying the first game. Shouldn't have gone near it.

C'mon Disney, let Capcom do your games! You know they'll be good, just like they used to be!!

Maybe they'll do just that, on an iPhone.

FUUUUUCK!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Also Warren Spector has left Disney, now looking for a new job.

They made a Wii-game and it sells well, they make the sequel for HD-consoles and they go out of business. Remember when haters said Nintendo was killing gaming

If they had never made the Wii game, there would never have been an HD sequel, ergo it's all the Wii's fault.

From what I've heard, Disney expected the original to do much better numbers.

What the hell were they expecting?  Galaxy 2 numbers?
