Forums - Gaming Discussion - THQ bidding ends: Vigil's done, older IPs to be auctioned in a few weeks

Anyone know when they are supposed to reveal who got the IP's?

Around the Network

Well out of the established bidders, I would really like Ubisoft to get Saints Row, and Darksiders as well as the studios involved in those projects. Ubisoft is the best of the three big third party publishers. They still do crafty things with online passes and occasionally day one DLC, but overall, I think they serve gamers better than the other two. As a Nintendo fan, I'm more confident that a Ubisoft published game will make it to the Wii U than an Activision or EA.

If Nintendo were really smart, they would buy Volition, Ubisoft Montreal, or Vigil. These are all extremely western studios, something that Nintendo needs. If you look at Nintendo, the only big, talented western studio they have is Retro. Retro did wonders for the Metroid franchise. Nintendo has a fairly large backcatalog of IP's that are lying dormant (Starfox, F-Zero, Wave Race, etc), and need a talented Western developer to bring a fresh new perspective to said IP's

I know they won't do it, but they should.

Looks like Sega could get Relic which is a good fit considering how well they managed Creative Assembly.

I hope Metro and Darksiders find good new homes

I think you had to be a creditor or register interest in bidding to be at the auction.

Ubisoft would do great with both Saints Rows and Darksiders I guess. What happens to the South Park game though? Still coming out? Still in developement?

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Microsoft buy them all!!! Buy e'm all!!!!

Just kidding.

I hope the highest bidders can indeed make those franchises bigger that they already are.

Yay!!!

I hope Volition finds a good home. I would really like to see another Red Faction game. Nintendo would be wise to pick Volition up. Nintendo could use a developer with shooter and sandbox experience.
