Forums - Gaming Discussion - Little big planet becoming a bigger franchise then God of war 3.

No. You have to look at consistancy and growth.

LBP sold really well. 5.1 Million
LBP2 didnt do as well. 2.8 Million*

What this shows is that LBP was a title where you either loved it or hated it. There is no growth and the second game sold a whole lot less. It holds an average of ~3.95 Million per title.

GoW sold 4.4 Million
GoW2 sold 4.1 Million
GoW3 sold 4.5 Million*

This shows the game is very well recieved by the audience it targets. Its consistantly selling over 4 Million units and currently experiencing growth with GoW3 being the best selling game in the series. It holds an average of ~4.3 Million per game.

Correction: God of War 3 sold 5.2million

God of War 3 is a game, not a franchise, I'm sure people already told you the difference.

The * after the numbers means that I was using VGC numbers. Really should have put it at the end of my post

Someone should make a thread about those GoW3 numbers.

i feel like this thread is a parody of the ongoing forza vs. GT arguments that appear in every other thread..

Well technically if your doing IP sales it really is 3 games vs 1 for the generation.

Ascension should shake things up though.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

VGchartz really hates GoW3. Once it was at 5m and they adjusted it down to 4.4m for no reason at all. Even when Sony said they sold 5.2m.

Little big planet 5.11 million LDT sales

GOW3 4.5 million

what do you guys think is little big planet now a bigger franshise then GOW.

Little Big planet ended up selling really well for a new IP.  Combined with LBP2 numbers, the franchise is easily over 8M.

GOWIII numbers are undertracked for sure.  I doubt it sold less than UC2.

Somebody already mentioned that LittleBigPlanet 1 was heavily bundled when you look at the numbers for the second game you can see its true sales potential which is around the 3 million mark God of War can easily sell over 4 million without any bundling.

Still can't believe nobody has taken the advice. This wasn't meant to be a realistic comparison, people. He just decided to attempt the bundled vs non-bundled argument, picking two titles with no relation except exclusivity.

i still don't get your advice.

GoW 3 is a franchise ?? good to know
