Pokémon X & Y - News

During todays special airing of Pokémon Origins within Japan, a new Mega Evolution was showcased. This is an alternate Mega Evolution of Charizard. This Mega Charizard is exclusive to Pokémon X and is called Mega Charizard X. It is also to be a Fire/Dragon-type Pokémon with the new ability of Tough Claws which improves the power of Physical contact attacks. Its Attack stat is increased. Pokémon X & Y - New Pokémon

A new pamphlet has come out featuring two brand new Pokémon. These Pokémon are evolutions of Swirlix and Spritzee and are known in Japanese as Peroriimu (ペロリーム) the Whipped Cream Pokémon and Furefuran (フレフワン) the Perfume Pokémon, respectively. Like their pre-evolutions, they are pure Fairy-type. This is not 100% confirmed at this time, but has a good chance of being real. We'll bring more information as it comes. Out of respect for those who don't wish to be spoiled, we have hidden them in this Spoiler Tag

Pokémon - New Pokémon Reveal

The images of a new Pokémon have been revealed by Jeux Video. This Pokémon is said to be the evolution of Amaura and is called aurorus. It is likely we'll get full assets later on so we'll keep you aprised of any information as and when it comes. In the meantime, we've added its artwork to the pre-release Pokémon page, and screenshots to the pre-release screenshot page.

Edit @ 13:42: According to an interview on Polygon, it has been stated that no Kalos Pokémon will have a Mega Evolution within Pokémon X & Y.
Aurorus has a move called Freeze Dry, which is an Ice-type move which freezes the opponent but is said to be super effective against Water-type Pokémon.

14:10: Various details are coming in from impressions at the media briefing last week. Pokémon will gain EXP when a Pokémon is captured. The Pokémon Centers not only have the standard PokéMart, but will also have a place for you to change your outfit

Pokémon X & Y - English Names & Screenshots


Following their reveal over the last few days, The Pokémon Company has sent out a press release giving out various details and localisations on the recently revealed Pokémon. The details are as follows.

First are the starters. Chespin's evolution, Hariboogu is to be called Quilladin. Fennekin's evolution, Teerunaa , is to be called Braixen and Froakie's evolution, Gekogashira, is to be called Frogadier

Next are the fossil Pokémon. Chigorasu is to be called Tyrunt while its ability, Strong Jaw, retains its name. Next, Amarusu is to be called Amaura while its ability, is called Refrigerate. Tyrunt is obtained with the Jaw Fossil and Amaura with the Sail Fossil

The customisable dog Pokémon, Torimian is to be called Furfrou while its ability Fur Coat retains its name. Its move, Baby Doll Eyes whichmoves first and lowers the opponent's Attack. The process to customise it is called Trimming

The cat Pokémon, Nyaonikusu is to be called Meowstic.

Pyroar has a female form

The Team Flare admins are: The purple-haired woman is Celosia, the orange-haired woman is Aliana, the green-haired woman is Bryony, and the blue-haired woman is Mable. The final one of the lot is a man called Xerosic, whose red goggles and hair make quite an impression. The actress Karune is to be called Diantha.

The Global Link will have a mobile friendly version. Season 1 of the Ranked Matches will be done with Single Battles using only Pokémon in the Kalos Pokédex and runs from December

Some more changes regarding types have been announced; Ghost types are no longer affected by moves that prevent fleeing such as Mean Look. Grass Pokémon can't be seeded or affected by moves such as SleepPowder or Stun Spore. Electric types can no longer be Paralysed

Pokémon - Pyroar Reveal

Following on from the accidental leak last night, the Pokémon Pyroar has been officially revealed by The Pokémon Company in conjunction with website IGN. It's a Fire/Normal-type Pokémon with the abilities Unnerve and Rivalry and it can learn the move Echoed Voice and is classed as the Royal Pokémon. We'll provide further details when we get them

Pokémon - CoroCoro Reveals

Following on from their reveals yesterday, we have some clearer images from CoroCoro. These reveal some further details about each of the Pokémon. First, it details that the starter evolutions abilities are Overgrow, Blaze and Torrent respectively
Hariboogu is the Thorn Armour Pokémon. It is 0.7m, 29kg and has the ability Overgrow
Teerunaa is the Fox Pokémon. It is 1.0m, 14.5kg and has the ability Blaze
Gekogashira is the Bubble Frog Pokémon. It is 0.6m, 10.9kg and has the ability Torrent.

Pokémon - CoroCoro Reveals


The next batch of CoroCoro information has been posted to Japanese forums and this batch showcases more information on the upcoming games Pokémon X & Y. We have the cover that showcases a new Mega Evolution of Mewtwo as well as Mega Garchomp in the bottom right
The middle starter evolutions have also been revealed. First is Hariboogu (ハリボーグ), Chespin's evolution. It is pure Grass-type and knows the move Mud Shot. Next is Fennekin's evolution, Teerunaa (テールナー) which is pure Fire-type. It knows the move Psyshock and finally is Froakie's evolution, Gekogashira (ゲコガシラ) which is pure Water-type and knows Bounce
It lists two fossil Pokémon, Chigorasu (チゴラス) which is Rock/Dragon T-Rex which has a new ability 'Hard Jaw' that increases attack power of biting moves and knows Crunch, and Amarusu (アマルス) which is Rock/Ice Diplodocus which has a new ability called Freeze Skin which turns Normal type moves into Ice-type moves and raises their power. It knows Aurora Beam
There is a white dog called Torimian (トリミアン) which is the Pokémon from the Pokémon Direct and is a Normal-type It has a new ability called Fur Coat which reduces Physical Damage. You can also customise its appearance
Finally, the Psychic-type cat called Nyaonikusu (ニャオニクス) which has male and female appearances. Male is on the right, Female is on the left in the third picture below. movepool varies by gender. The male is more of a supporter while the female is more of an attacker with, female Nyaonikusu knowing Extrasensory and male knowing Miracle Eye. It has Keen Eye or Infiltrator
He also listed the Fairy-type chart. According to this, Fairy is Super Effective on Fighting, Dark and Dragon and not effective on Fire, Poison or Steel. It also states that it is weak to Poison and Steel while resists Fighting, Dark and Bug. It is immune to Dragon.
The new Mega Evolution of Mewtwo is exclusive to X and is called Mega Mewtwo X. It is Psychic/Fighting-type and has the ability Steadfast. The previous Mega Mewtwo is Mega Mewtwo Y and is exclusive to Pokémon Y. They use the items Mewtwonite X & Mewtwonite Y to Mega Evolve. Mega Garchomp has the ability Sandforce
10:53: Change your hair and clothes at a Boutique and Salon, reflected in the graphics, with a famous actress called Karune. Team Flare has five scientists, Kuseroshiki, Momiji, Bara, Akebi, Corea

Pokémon X & Y - Pokémon Direct

Following the information from the Pokémon Direct, the official release has provided new details on the Pokémon. Mega Venusaur has the ability Thick Fat, Mega Charizard has the ability Drought and Mega Blastoise has the ability Mega Launcher which boosts its moves. It also confirmed that you will need to obtain a bracelet called the Mega Ring that holds a mysterious stone called a Key Stone. The Trainer’s Key Stone resonates with the Mega Stone held by his or her Pokémon. In addition to that, various screenshots were added. Our Mega Evolutions page was also updated
It was also revealed that Pokémon Bank & Poké Transporter prevent hacked Pokémon from transferring and work with multiple copies of the games. Check the image to go to the pre-release screenshot page.
Pokémon Bank, and with it Poké Transporter, for sale in Japan on December 25th for 500¥ a year with a trial until January 31st where you have to pay afterwards.

Pokémon X & Y - Pokémon Direct

The Pokémon Direct is to air in thirty minutes and will reveal the latest information from the games, Pokémon X & Pokémon Y. It is to last 20 minutes and you can watch it here. However, we will be live updating this page with everything so be sure to keep checking back, including screenshots and assets right after the Pokémon Direct.

12:02: A run down of the history of the games connectivity Pokémon Bank is Cloud Storage app for 3DS. It allows for 100 boxes to be stored on the internet. Pokémon transporter includes connectivity to DS games. Pokémon can be sent to the cloud and then transferred to Pokémon X & Y. Poké Transporter comes when you purchase Pokémon Bank.

The cloud storage idea came during the development of Pokémon Crystal. Pokémon Bank requires an annual fee You will receive Kanto Starters from Sycamore. They Mega Evolve Special Red & Blue Nintendo 3DS XL have been announced for North America and Europe. They will be released on September 27th

Pokémon X & Y - English Names & Screenshots

Following their reveal in CoroCoro yesterday, The Pokémon Company has now announced the US names of the latest Pokémon and features. First, the Mega Evolutions; MegaMewtwo, MegaBlaziken, MegaAmpharos, MegaMawile, MegaLucario and MegaAbsol retain their Japanese names. Lucario needs an item called Lucarionite
First, the rabbit Pokémon Horubii is to be called Bunnelby . Its new special ability, Cheek Pouches, has the name of Cheek Pouch. If a Pokémon with this Ability eats a Berry during battle, it will not only reap the benefit from the Berry, but the Pokémon will also be able to regain HP.
Next, the Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon Dedenne will be known as Dedenne . It Nuzzle, which looks cute as the user nuzzles up to a target with its cheeks fully charged, but it’s quite dangerous! Nuzzle will do damage while paralyzing the opponent.
Finally, the pre-evolution of Gogoat, Meekuru will be known as Skiddo. It is rideable in the field
Next, the Gym Leader Koruni will be known in English as Korrina. She is the Gym Leader in Shalour City where the Tower of Mastery is
The Torchic distribution is also confirmed for North America and Europe
Super Training or S.T. is being introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, allowing players to help their Pokémon grow stronger when they’re not in battle. On the Touch Screen of the Nintendo 3DS system, players can have their Pokémon participate in Super Training, activities that will increase a Pokémon’s Effort Values, the underlying values that define its HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and Speed stats.
One Super Training activity involves having Pokémon train by facing huge Pokémon-shaped Balloon Bots in a virtual space, with both sides trying to shoot balls into the opponent’s goal. Using the Circle Pad and Touch Screen to avoid shots from the Balloon Bots while landing their own in the goal, players will enjoy this action-packed feature while increasing their Pokémon’s Effort Values to help them become stronger for battle.
For a more casual way to help Pokémon strengthen their Effort Values, Core Training lets players set up training bags, earned by completing Super-Training Regimens, for Pokémon in their party to use. Pokémon will work on Core Training by themselves, raising their stats on their own. By tapping on the Touch Screen during a Core Training session, players can help their Pokémon increase their Effort Values, too. Players will be able to see how their Pokémon are doing at their Core Training at any time from the main Super Training screen.
EVs can now be tracked by an Effort o Meter which shows the progress of the Pokémon and the amount in can still have

A brand new feature of the Pokémon X & Y games are Mega Evolutions. These are special features of Pokémon, different to evolutions and forms, that have your Pokémon Mega Evolve in battle into these appearances. Their abilities, stats and sometimes even types are different. To get a Pokémon to Mega Evolve, they need to be holding a special Mega Stone item unique to their species. It begins when they begin battle and ends when they leave it.

Yveltal looks like a flying Groudon and Xerneus looks like a Arceus that has gone out wild with a Stantler. I can say that I feel like the designs are starting to get better, the Gen 5 legendaries were not my cup of tea and neither were the starters of that Generation.
I hope we get to see more soon!
