I also like White Knight Chronicles II. But, not many people agree. There is an overwhelming amount of side quest in that game.

Well that one I have.. actually on 360 and pc. :P I think it was a bit confusing or something and so I did not bother to start it again. Might as well try it next. Oh and I don't have dark souls yet. |
That and Demon's Souls might be the hardest games on PS360 period if you don't count downloadable games (Meat boy, N+, bullet hell games...) and they're not cheap in their difficulty.

Both games are mechanically fun, but to be honest I am not a real fan of the story telling in most JRPGs. It seemed weaker then most to me, but I genuinely try to pay as little attention to the narrative in these games as possible. I think it all is fairly cliche, but on the upside neither title seemed to try to push the story either. Both seemed a little juvenille to me, but I guess a lot of JRPG fans like that kind of thing.

Lost Odyssey?LOOL
You must be joking Xenoblade is 10x better and runs laps around LO.
Oh and Demon Souls and Xenoblade are BY FAR the best jrpgs until Ni No Kuni releases.
Xenoblade Chronicles, no doubt about it.
The Last Story also recommended

Lost Odyssey is much better than Xenoblade, which is also a good game.
