Forums - Nintendo Discussion - F-Zero less respect than Pikmin?

I'd like someone to sell me on F-Zero. What really does it bring to the table that MarioKart doesn't, for instance? At least with Pikmin and Metroid you are getting unique aspects of gameplay. I can be swayed, I guess, but it's certainly a franchise I never got into and probably never will.

Miyamoto is right, as usual (for my tastes).

The fastest racing game out there with kick ass music. Here's what you can do if you are good enough.

The game being on NintendoLand gives a little hope that F-Zero will eventually come to the Wii U, even with what Miyamoto said recently.

To quote the great Eleanor Roosevelt:

"Speed. Hot, nasty, bad-ass speed."

I knew about Pikmin long before I knew of F-Zero.
While it would be nice to see an F-Zero game, I don't think it's well known enough to attract enough attention.

how is that even possible unless you are like 15 years old?

It's fast as hell and the controls are fluid and smooth. Combined together, when you're really  get that "in the zone" feeling playing F-Zero; it creates such a pleasant feeling of really carving through a race track.

Something you're not really going to get in a Mario Kart game.

Thanks for the video...looks ok, but what would they do to it to make it compelling for today's audiences? Or do you think revamped visuals and new tracks alone is enough to warrant a sequel?

F-Zero doesn't need anything fancy changed to be relevant to today's audience.

It's just a great game. That's all it needs to be relevant.

Make it for the eShop like WipeOut HD, and you can sell downloadable tracks to a core fanbase of F-Zero for the next 10 years.

Not everything has to fit into the "it must sell 1 million worldwide or its worthless!" categorey.

And really who knows if F-Zero WX on Wii couldn't have sold more than 1 million copies, the GameCube version failed to do so, but the Wii had 4x the userbase.

It's quite possible a well done F-Zero WX released in 2008 or so could've sold a nice 1+ million worldwide. Punch-Out managed to clear 1.5 million.

Exploits on a major scale. No hax involved.

Nothing out of the ordinary, just some skips in track by flying, no hacks. Getting speed my hitting bombs and doing some special techniques with the controls.

It's the best game on the GameCube after Metroid Prime and one of the best games of the PS2/XBox/GCN era period if you ask me. And perhaps the more f*cking intense racing game ever. That video is OK, the entire game is insane.

But yeah, nothing "special" outside of that.
