PSP Vita? Man, who do you think you kidnapped? Chelsea Clinton?

I decided not to in order to see how many sticklers would take something completely irrelevant and decide to post about it...

Well, the irrelevant thing is your title, since it's just wrong.

It's like when there was that scan of a newspaper article doing the rounds a while back which was calling the Wii-U a new controller for the Wii, or something to that effect.  Didn't matter what the content of the actual article said, people just got giddy about the title being ridiculous.

In that particular case, once a newspaper is put to print there's no retracting it.  Here, you can stop these replies and possibly get some actual discussion about the issue by simply clicking a button.

But whatever.  Your choice!

What is PSP Vita?

almost led me to believe it was the unreleased version of PSP which later developed into PSVita.

Oh for christ's sake people...I edited the title for the sake of confusion and bad Rush Hour jokes to stop.

so the vita crashed and burned already? and i thought the console has just been a year on the market

In this short time it already managed to miss its original forecast, its revised forecast and the revision of the revised forecast. It's selling at a rate of less than half of what Sony expected, so calling it a failure isn't really premature anymore, unless there are/will be signs of a huge turnaround in 2013.

According to Kaz, it's still on the lower end of the expectations. How low is it?

Wow. I have no words for this.

It's an example of the brand confusion that Sony are obviously suffering from. They should have called it something else, like PSP2, then people would have been able to identify it as a new product much more easily.

Can't fault them. It seems no one wants to do that and Nintendo has made the same choice with both their console and handheld.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Will there be a modified version ever? Anything at least that Sony can come up with to keep PSP from outselling it in Japan? I believe it can still recoup if Japan is won.

Any Rush Hour joke is a good Rush Hour joke.

The simplest thing would be for Sony to provide financial incentives for all the Japanese third parties still making games for PSP to just up-port them to Vita. Not necessarily to add any Vita-specific features or anything, just re-code and slap it in a Vita cartridge.
