Forums - Politics Discussion - Joe Biden appeals to games industry on gun control task force

It's weird how video games don't kill people in EU... Or anywhere else in the world... What kind of games DO you have in the US really?!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Joe Biden: I'm going to have to take all these violent video games home just to study them and also meet with the industry leaders to see their future products before anyone else for the sake of this country.

Damn abuse of power....lucky.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

so if people who play violent video games like shooters make people go shoot people. why dont people who play mario go jump on mushrooms and turtles all day long?

You don't jump on mushrooms.  You eat them.

you know what i mean lol. if shooters make us go out and shoot people, why dont platformers make us go jumping all over the place?

Joe biden is such a hippocryt and presstitude.

First he should talk about violence on TV making children in your country watch 10000deaths before growing up.
Not to mention the perversion of daily talks. And he is going for video games?
The worst thing about this lousy olf furt is,that he is part of a goverment that was(and is supporting)mexican drug dealers with automatic weapons(fast and furious scandal)and al qaida terrorists to overthrow governments in lybia and syria and kill thousands of civilians.Together with drone mass murderer "barak o" one of the worst pretenders this planet has seen in the past years

Not to be outdone by their American counterparts the British have a theory of their own. Video games & TV cause cancer. That's it. I am giving up video gamez and picking up hobbies such as stamp and coin collection. Also should take pottery classes.

Honestly taking breaks is fine but throwing stuff like that in a "newspaper" without wide research is just bleh.

While I think it's nonsense I do believe we need to figure out a way of preventing under 18 from purchasing these games. I also understand how difficult or impossible that may turn out to be; then again I also feel we should have the ability to purchase hand guns to defend our homes, but why do we need to carry the weapons around with us? Do our pants get tighter while we carry deadly weapons? Another issue automatic weapons should be permanent banned we don't need that much firepower period. Hell even our own trained police can't even judge who has a gun or doesn't. Anyone remember the shootings in NY they unloaded 48+ bullets into a person who wasn't even armed? Lastly we have background checks for fire arms yet anyone can go to Walmart and but a shotgun or rifle with no checks. Unloading a full clip into a crowd is dangerous but imagine a few buckshots, there is a reason shotguns r the weapon of choice in zombie games yet anyone can grab these.

I'm not trying to sound liberal here but lets face it it's not Video games or movies alone that may cause this problem. Last time I checked the bullet hitting someone is what's doing the damage, imagine we tossed videogames at people. We may have a bruise but that's about it.

Collectively we all need to figure out ways to improve the safety of our children but not at limiting certain constitutional rights and ignoring others. I love how the NRA guys show no responsibility and blame videogames yet in doing so end up hypocritical of their own arguments. " it's not our toys doing it don't blame our guns........ Turns and looks at his children or grandchildren... O... There's the problem take their toys away." come on now ug.

Once again they are blaming everything EXCEPT the people that are shooting the guns! Because in this day and age even child murdering rapists are above reproach. Its either the Guns faults or now they are saying video games. This is getting really annoying.

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

Here is Roger Ebert's take on it. I know he is not popular among gamers due to whole video games and art debate but he is person whose opinion i have respected even if i have not always agreed.

It just sounds like the task force is throwing out a wide net. I'd be shocked if the Obama administration tried to pass some legislation censoring media. Honestly, parents and young consumers need to pay attention to the ESRB ratings on the game box, just as they would MPAA ratings.
